They should have a mic only mode too if they have the ability to choose who you play with controller wise. Its not bad if you don't have a mic on MAG but its just rude not to have one in SOCOM.

You'd think after so many SOCOM games, Zipper would realize how important it is to long-time players to play with people who have mics. I've never played myself, but I'm more interested in SOCOM than any other online-enabled game this year because of that - and if they have a mic-only mode, I guarantee I'd get it.

I just want a split-screen co-op campaign. I'd love to be able to get my brothers together and shoot AI fools instead of giving commands to computer-controlled partners - or worse, not be able to give them orders.

It's just more fun to ask the person next to you on the couch for cover fire.

I Google'd it before I made the comment and found nothing but comments on boards, announcements, and blogs about WANTING co-op, but nothing official. Admittedly though, I only looked for like three minutes.

I would also like to have a button for throwing grenades, i know that selecting it from the menu has always been Socom's "forte" but i think its time for a change...

-"I started out on Youtube because I wanted to bash video game developers for selling us shit games. I would also like to give a thumbs up on a game if it ever comes along. I like to keep my videos funny and brutally honest. I don't sugar coat my thoughts about a shitty game as you will soon find out. Hope you like my channel."

-37 videos entitled "SOCOM IS DEAD"

-Pretty much every video about SOCOM or MAG

Yeah, sounds legit.

I'm not seeing how people using Move would have an unfair advantage or anything.so I don't see the big deal about segregating the servers. But if they set preferences so that you can select whether or not to play with mic-less people then that would be more worthwhile....would filter out the SOCOM people from the casuals.....

I understand your concern, but I think there is no need for an option, I only want the matchmaking system to be able to differentiate people that has the mic turned on or off, and group people with the same mic status.

A real option I want is to be able to choose your language (different from your PS3 OS configured language) and the matchmaking system must try to group people using the same language. Warhawk has that option, but it is not very good using it for matchmaking

considering Wake County in NC is doing JUST that by ending busing kids to schools and letting them go to neighborhood schools.....I do see something wrong with it....but this isnt the same thing.....

you should have asked about the cover system and why they felt like they had to copy every other TPS rather then sticking to the socom formula.

Actually, I did ask that question. Forgot to transcribe that part. Essentially, the answer boils down to this: real people in real life take cover too. It's not breaking the game, and you're not blind-firing either.

crouching was just fine, but I hope your right about no blind firing. Uncharted 2 had that and i got over that game quick. If Socom becomes another uncharted or gears I can't say how many people will actually care to stay this time.

Great interview though I'm glad you asked about separating 'Move' and DS3 players online which is a HUGE question that needs to be discussed.

What about all the people in Gears, RSV and Uncharted that put a dot (or peice of tape) on their TV in the center of their crosshairs so that they can aim in on somebody while in cover, then just pop out of cover for half a second and score a headshot. I know on Gears it was awful when people did it with the sniper rifle. In my opinion a cover system is flawed in every game because of this exploit. For those of you that don't know about this very popular cheat, trust me, a lot of people use it. Think back to some times while you were playing one of those games and somebody was just tearing everyone apart while in cover, I'd say there was at least a forty percent chance they were using the crosshair exploit. Now think about how fun it will be to have that same thing happen in a game like Socom. Please devs, get rid of cover systems for good. They are too easy to take advantage of. Btw, I know three people personally that use this on every game that has a cover system, and I've told them they should be ashamed to call themselves gamers.

Exactly i don't see a reason for it. no matter how badly Zipper messed up Socom with 3/CA and then Slant 6 with Confrontation atleast they never implemented a cover system.

The fans don't want it so why do they have to go out of their way to alienate us? First it was move, then it was the terrible camera angle, and what really sent us over was the cover system. I keep reading Jeremy Dunham the Sr. Community manager over at Socom.com telling us how this game is for the fans and how it's really going to please us die hards but so far I haven't seen an ounce of effort on their part of showing us that.

I love socom more than any other video game franchise but I can't help feeling this is going to be another failed attempt. I really hope they prove me wrong though but i have my doubts about Zipper given their past history.

I'm interested for sure, had no idea they'd been developing for 3 years now. I just want a steady flow of free and premium MAG dlc. MAG is my jump off. I'd hate to see a mass exodus of MAG players to SOCOM.

@ Ryuk

I think we are one of the few, most people like Socom 2, heck, I do too, but 3/CA have larger maps.

Devil's Road it's the best multiplayer map that I've ever played.

This whole article is about the Move and how it will affect the Socom community. Ironically, putting out inferior sequels with poorly thought out "improvements" (*cough Snap cover system cough*) has already driven away a huge portion of the community. But hey, at least you stopped rank-up cheaters in Confrontation by allowing Slant Six and Seth Stupidugi to remove user created ranked rooms.

I highly recommend you rent this game before dropping $60 on a game you will be hating within the first week or month.

Well thanks Joystiq ... as a SOCOM fan I got really excited when I saw this interview and all it really did was confirm shit we already know ... like the fact that the game was made with DS3 and that Move came later ... and that its not like MAG, its a 3rd person tactical shooter which everyone already knew.

How about an actual interview about the game itself that reveals more about the multiplayer and etc.
