Yeah but they weren't human anymore.

It's not Samus' M.O. to run around killing humans.

There must be four or five good games waiting to bust out of that Duke Nukem Forever retail box.

Well dang.

That means I have to find something else to push me into Platinum status for the year.

(Though it's not so bad for me...I wouldn't have been in the country when Metroid came out)

I should have known. Now the only game that's going to get me through those months is Blur. Now instead of having a balanced game-purchasing schedule with two games Q2 (Blur, Metroid: Other M) and two games Q3 (Halo: Reach, Guitar Hero 6), it's now one game Q2 and three Q3. Let's hope we don't get another release date screwover like Brawl. Thanks, Nintendo. You reminded me why I bought my 360 in the first place.

How hard is it to translate games? If anyone has any insight in to how games brought from japan to other language speaking countries Id be interested in hearing it. What all changes other than the text / possibly voice acting?

Occasionally, controls. While that won't be the case here, in many PlayStation games in Japan, X is used as 'cancel' while O is used as "accept".

I read a long article about it sometime but basically it can be very hard to translate games. For instance, if English text takes up more space on the screen then Japanese text then you can't just replace the text - you need to change the way it's programmed so that the new text fits properly, or else figure out how to reword the text/split it differently so it's okay. Some game companies have a proper development mechanism which takes this kind of thing into account from the start so the translators just change text files, audio files and it's all done... and some, the translators have to crack the binaries to insert new strings.

I'd assume though that this delay is nothing to do with that and is just to spread out the major Nintendo games a bit more evenly.

I can't help but wonder whether this has something to do with some of the complaints about the game from players of the demo, especially in regards to the translation and voice acting - even NINTENDO POWER complained about them. I just recently found out that one of the reasons Nintendo never released Disaster: Day of Crisis in the US was because of the awful (albeit, allegedly, hilarious) voice acting and dialogue. If they care that much about how their games - especially their first grand attempt at making a "cinematic" game - are perceived in terms of writing and VA, I can easily see them delaying the US release by a couple of months to smooth that over. I've never had a problem with Nintendo (or Team Ninja, or Blizzard, or even Valve) delaying games, since although it can be frustrating in the moment, it almost always means a more polished end product. And besides, it's not like there aren't tons of other new games coming out to play in the meantime.

The delays of S&P2 and MOM are good news, for S&P2 at least.
Sandwiching a gem like S&P2 between Mario and Metroid would kill it stone dead in sales.

This is good news for us multi-platform players. I am an avid Metroid fan since the first and Super, so I pick up every console version. With so many games coming out in the next 2-3 months I could use to extra time without Metroid to finish up my other must buy games like 3d dot game heroes, Transformers - War for Cybertron, and of course the time I want to spend in the Halo:Reach beta.

What seems bad is often times the best thing that could happen...*wink*
