With all these crazy acquisitions, it feels like it's time for Microsoft to buy a developer for too much money. I'm thinking Robomodo for 250 million. ;)

If they buy another developer I'll never forgive them. It's bad enough they purchased Big Park right after Ensemble's closure, any more and it will be a slap in the face to both Ensemble and FASA.

It seems Warner Bros can see that mmo's can be put in cash cow stables. Wise

As long both companies can keep the boundries of " I declare that our mmo will kill WoW once and for all." then they're fine.

I should go back and give the game another shot. Me and some friends were going to play it but it always fell through, so it got a little old doing quests by myself all the time. Still, it's a pretty innovative game in general, and especially among MMOs. I'm glad they're doing so well, I hope nothing changes for the worse.

(D&D Online, that is. I haven't played any of their other games yet)

Hopefully Lord of the Rings Online goes f2p too.

I loved exploring Middle Earth during the Beta so long ago.

I certainly hope not. DDO lends well to the whole f2p thing, LoTRO just would not.

Dunno what free to play D&D MMO you played, but I've played it and its fun.

You need to like D&D though, because the mechanics are pretty faithful to D&D 3.5 rules. And you /absolutely/ need to learn to play well with others early on, because just like pen and paper D&D, DD) isn't meant to be played solo.

But if you're cool with that, then DDO offers shiny graphics, a bazillion quests, a great random loot generator, and some very well designed dungeons.

And its free, so who can complain?
