Putting this feature together weekly is usually cathartic. Typically, it's a nice reminder that the weekend is almost here. Just email the staff on Friday morning, ask them to tell me what they're playing this weekend, then organize that later in the day for posting. A nice simple community piece ... unless my email doesn't work all day.
Then it's not just WRUP that's a pain to put together, but this nebulous "work week" we have around here is capped by rage. A rage that has manifested itself (oddly enough) in the adorable picture of a puppy you see above. So cute!
What's everyone playing this weekend?
- Alexander Sliwinski (@XanderSliwinski): I'll play Battlefield: Bad Company 2, if I get in the mood, may take a look at Heavy Rain.
- Andrew Yoon (@scxzor): I'll be back on Uncharted 2 this weekend, to take advantage of Double Cash and the new Siege DLC.
- Ben Gilbert (@BigBossBgilbert): Playing "I'm still looking for an apartment in Brooklyn," which is distinctly less exciting than it might sound. Also, it'd be silly to think I won't get in some Bad Company 2 when I'm back in Philly on Sunday night. Don't be ridiculous, sir!
- Christopher Grant (@ChrisGrant): Mostly just Final Fantasy XIII ... at 16 hours, I'm assured I'm right on the cusp of quality. If it weren't for the game's excellent battle system, I'd have moved on weeks ago.
- David Hinkle (@DaveHinkle): Now that I've finished the single player campaign and co-op story modes in Splinter Cell: Conviction, I'm looking to go through the rest of the multiplayer and round out the rest of my Achievements. On top of that, I'm still only a few hours into Metro 2033 and have a copy of God of War 3 sitting on the back burner -- God of War collection must be played before I get to that. It's a tough life, but somebody's gotta live it.
- Griffin McElroy (@griffinmcelroy): I've been working my way through Chrono Cross, but it starts out awfully slow. I might end up succumbing to the siren call of Deadly Premonition, which I tried a bit of last week, and it was so, so sweet.
- James Ransom-Wiley: I'll be out of town and playing "Trying to Convince the Girlfriend We Should Come Back Early" ... so I can finish Splinter Cell. (Or maybe I'll just sneak home.)
- JC Fletcher (@jcfletcher) I had the honor of Finally Fighting with Randy for one brief session yesterday, and it's an experience I hope to revisit as soon as possible. I'm also trying my very best not to continue playing Yakuza 3 after having completed the story.
- Justin McElroy (@JustinMcElroy): I'm playing Dead to RIghts: Retribution for review. That's right, baby, soak in the envy.
- Kevin Kelly (@gadgetguy): ...
- Ludwig Kietzmann (@LudwigK): There has to be a Final Fight/Magic Sword marathon in there somewhere, right? I also intend to extend my exploration of the Russian subway systems in Metro 2033. They're more charming than you think.
- Mike Schramm (@MikeSchramm): I'll be at an iPhone developer conference in Seattle, so I'll be playing a lot of iPhone games. And an itch for a good space trader game will have me playing Escape Velocity Nova during downtime.
- Randy Nelson (@DangerPenguin) I'll be playing the 360 and Wii versions of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, giving DeathSmiles a go and figuring out how to properly spell Gilenhall. Gylenhal. GYLLENHAAL!
- Richard Mitchell (@SenseiRAM): Kept the GameFly copy of Bad Company 2, which opens up a slot for Heavy Rain. Beyond that, spurts of The Longest Journey, Final Fight, Magic Sword, Sleep Is Death and learning to actually makegames with C#.
- Xav de Matos (@Xav): I'm playing the video editing game! Cutting over three hours of Halo: Reach footage I captured after playing the pre-beta at a recent press event.
