Doesn't matter, guy. LASERS.

Also, I've received a few messages as to the status of my pants. We do not comment on rumors and speculation.

No, no, no, my friend.

The order is DS9 > TNG > Voyager > Original Series > Enterprise

I agree.

It had an epic arc of a story, something most American shows simply never have unless they're horrible soap operas :x

Not just small arcs either. Multiple season long arcs. Plus, a well fleshed out cast.

TNG is great, but TNG is more like a bunch of small self contained movies :/

Not to defend television, or US television for that matter, but that statement hasn't been true for a while. The story arc and episode continuity model has been pretty prevalent for seemingly a decade now, especially off of broadcast networks and premium channels.

Granger is right. American television has grown less episodic since the mid-90s when WB started making a splash with a series of hit dramas featuring year-long story arcs (starting with Buffy). The major networks started aping it, and it became standard once 24 hit it big.

DS9 was ahead of the curve though. And, yes, it was easily the best Star Trek series. Too bad it was always treated as a 2nd class citizen.

My ordering is DS9 >= TNG > TOS > Enterprise > Voyager. Voyager disappointed me quite a bit. I thought Enterprise could have gotten much better had it had more time (and had fewer crap episodes like its series finale, which was a friggin' insult; you're supposed to go out with a bang, not smother yourself with a pillow).
Agreed with the others about the rise of long-term arcs in US television dramas after DS9 (and Babylon 5, come to think of it) blazed the trail.

Hmm, i think Voyager got much better in the last few seasons, well as soon as they got out of Kazon space and into Borg territory. I do have a soft spot for the series as I reckon Tuvok is one of the best Trek Characters

My listing is DS9 > (later) VOY > TNG > ENT > TOS

The last season of Enterprise was so good, it is such a shame it got axed. I'm especially pissed as Shran (Jeffrey Combs) was going to be written in as a member of the crew. *shakes fist at UPN*

Buffy's "Arcs" aren't even really arcs. There's one episode where something happens, 18 where nothing does, then the last two or three episode, more happens.

It's still fairly episodic.
Even stuff like LOST and such is like that.

Gene gave us The Motion Picture.

When they took Gene out of play, we got The Wrath of Khan.

Perhaps it's for the best, eh?

I'm not sure how people figure this out. Star Trek has been violence heavy since, well, the very beginning. Do we forget that the other half of the Original Series, the half not involving Kirk boning hot alien women, was pudgy guys fighting dudes in rubber costumes?

I'm sorry, but that's hardly proper canon. Were it accurate, it would involve a great deal more unarmed Sisko punching people.

I really liked it when he punched Jemhadar out. Although technically, that's child abuse, right? Most of them are about 3-5 years old.

Is this game any good? I'm strictly a console gamer as I live my e-life on a netbook. I could barely run the 60s trek and not a chance for the new fangled version. I hear its bad sometimes but nobody gives any details.

Also, yeah. To the poster above me. Wrath of Kahn is better than The Motion Picture. SOMETIMES the dramatic action flick is better than long meandering true sci fi, but now it's gotta be like that forever? Will we ever have thinking man's trek again?

The last great thinking man's Trek game was on the NES, with the classic 60's show. There was also a TNG SNES game that wasn't too shabby, either. But I think that's it.

You should check out the DS9 SNES game. It's a hilarious action side-scroller game with Sisko running through levels constantly shooting stuff, like he thinks he's in a Super Star Wars SNES game or something. So wrong.

jastani, don't forget the PC game ST:TNG "A Final Unity." That was a really good adventure game. If I remember correctly, one question posed to you (Riker) was "Why are you here?", to which the proper response was "I don't know."

Again, I must point out that the footage shows no laser fire, only phasers and disruptors. Maybe some buckshot.

Was that ship in the final shot the same class as that experimental multi-vector attack ship from the Voyager episode with Andy Dick? "Message in a Bottle."

Lasers? There aren't any lasers in that video.

If you want to be really technical there are Phasers, Disruptors AND Phased Polaron beams (which the Jem'Hadar fighters use!)

and sadly I don't think the Prometheus class multi-vector assault mode is optional in the game - shame.

Also love the Titan class ship in the trailer - goosebumps!

If there are any lasers, you won't be able to see them. Lasers are only visible as a burning dot on the target.

Ha, I thought about pointing out the invisibility of laser beams, too, but I figured my post had enough nitpicking as it was. Forgot about the phased polaron beams, though, and I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the Titan class.

I also found this ironic: "the typically peaceful space station Deep Space Nine." Griffin must have visited the station during the one day of the year it wasn't under attack.

@ Killdash. Oops! I meant 'Luna Class'. Captain Riker's ship the USS Titan is one. The ST:Titan books are actually really good and I love the Titan as it is a fan designed Star trek ship (competition winner) and it looks awesome
Check it out;

Did the developers completely misunderstand what Star Trek is supposed to be about? Not that ST has never had action scenes.. but none of this even looked like Star Trek, what happened to the Federation ships?

If it weren't for DS9 and the Jem Hadar ships, I wouldn't have guessed this was a Star Trek game.

I had a subscription to this game. it's awful, don't buy it. it's such a shallow mess with no real point or fun to it once you get to max level and run out of shit to collect. which doesn't take very long at all. and the grinding isn't even enjoyable either.

Um, so DS9 is under attack again from both the Jemhadar (spelling) and the Cardassians? Wasn't this resolved in the show? Will you be travelling back in time?!!
