As promised, the first two episodes of Alan Wake's live-action prequel, titled "Bright Falls," became available to Xbox Live Gold subscribers earlier this morning. However, though Microsoft said we shouldn't expect to see the videos anywhere else for a couple of days, the New York Times managed to get its hands on the series' first two installments. They're on the newspaper's website right now, and they are weird as hell.
If you're short on time, we suggest you at least get to the "Happy Birthday" scene in the first episode. Watching it is like staring into the inky, black eye of madness.

I remember the day I found out that Twin Peaks wasn't softcore porn. It was an upsetting day. Such a great title, wasted on something not related to breasts.

I couldn't find them on the dashboard either, so I just watched them on the NYT website. I liked them and I'm guessing there's gonna be more which is super cool. Good idea.

I'm kind of on the fence about Alan Wake's gameplay, but if they can weave a tale that keeps you on your toes with twists and plot devices that keep you from wanting to put the controller down, then the game might turn out to be something special. Now if only I had a 360....

At 5:40 or something in the second episode. The part where Jack looks at the photgraph, that shit spooked me :)

I was really surprised after watching these first two, they're actually really good. Definitely weird, but not too derivative of other works, except for the creepy townspeople. Kudos Remedy and MS, this could get people watching original content on the 360, just keep the quality up.

If you haven't watched the show, you owe it to yourself to do so, at least the first season.
The tonal similarities are such that Bright Falls almost feels like a parody at first; I keep expecting the joke to come. There are a few shots (like the opening, or the ceiling fan close-up) that are direct homage. It finds its own voice more when it turns towards overt suspense/horror.

Me either. Does anyone know where it is on the Dash? On XBox.com in the Alan Wake site it still says coming soon.

Currently they're both up on youtube, if you can't find them on your xbox. Watch them quick before they're yanked, because you know it'll happen.

I pay for XBL, so I would like to watch it where it was promised! Sad face =(
Plus I'd rather watch it on a television than my lappy. I'll wait.

According to Major Nelson yester (iirc) he said gold members would get access to these two days early. They're supposed to be in the spotlight section but I couldn't find them this morning.

If your talking about the guy in the picture. It's probably because he isn't Alan Wake.
Watch them first before you start throwing stones

This reminds me of that great TV show.
You know what I'm talking about, right Zach?
Kyle MacLachlan, Laura Flynn Boyle. Give up?
It's Twin Peaks, Zach. Set in the town of the same name, the series is regarded as one of the best of all time.
I'm a big fan of David Lynch. Once we find the Raincoat Killer, I'm going to pop in Muholland Drive. Naomi Watts delivered a powerful performance. She reminds me of Emily.
Zach, I need to get focused on the case. We'll talk about this later.

Absolutely awesome and well done, pal. Really reminds me of the Remo Williams and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes conversations... I just mailed that game over to my best buddy in TX a few weeks ago, was happy to get somebody else to experience the game.

Awesome. Can't wait to get back into Deadly Premonition.
Finally caved and watched both episodes on Youtube. The first one was kinda boring until the strange ending, but the second was really great. Surprisingly creepy, too. My confidence in Remedy's ability to create a genuinely frightening game (a difficult accomplishment) just rose substantially, as did my anticipation for Alan Wake. A few days ago, I knew nothing about it. Now, May 18th can't come soon enough.

If anyone from Capcom were to touch Deadly Premonition it just wouldn't be Deadly Premonition. It would just end up being like the unintentional schlock that Resident Evil 5 turned out to be. It would also not be scary.

Good point! I guess what i really meant is i wish the developers would have had the resources that a company like capcom has. They could have fixed the bad design flaws yet kept all the creative/surreal/bizarre design elements that a large company just wouldn't let them keep. I just keep picturing that game with picture perfect vistas, awesome car physics, incredibly heart pounding fire fights, and all of this on top of the awesome character development and surreal story. just my opinion. guess i'll just have to wait for Alan Wake.

I saw Bigfoot in the second one right when he looks at the picture of the road in the Doctor's office.
