Capcom's recent promotional get-together for its upcoming renovated fighting game, Super Street Fighter IV, was chock-full of exciting moments for die-hard fans of the series. The pinnacle moment of the "Fight Club" event was, undoubtedly, the final showdown between Street Fighter legends Daigo Umehara and Justin Wong, the entirety of which was captured on video. You don't have to know much about the franchise to appreciate the epicness of this match-up, or to recognize how impossibly radical the final round is.
Unfortunately, one bad apple in the crowd had to try and ruin the whole thing. Jon Gibson, founder of i am 8-bit Productions, is asking for help with locating a ton of video equipment (and documentary footage shot on said equipment) which was stolen during the event. If you have any information about the equipment's whereabouts, he's offering a cash reward -- but we know you guys don't care about that. You care about helping out your fellow man, right?

Yeah, that double KO was unexpected.

I was incredibly amazed and excited too, but as a long-time Street Fighter player and competitive IV player, I suspect that it was faked also.
Throughout the match, when Daigo goes for a risky flash kick, he consistently focus cancels out of it so that Justin won't be able to punish him. During the last instance, which directly resulted in Justin's comeback and the subsequent double KO, he had enough meter to focus cancel the kick and yet, for some reason, chose not to. Now if he was saving his meter for the next round, it would've been somewhat plausible, but that match had gone the distance already, so there was no reason to hold on to anything. Not only that, it looked like chip damage an EX flash kick would've also been close to putting Justin over the edge (though it's hard to gauge from the video resolution) , yet Daigo chose to do a regular flash kick. Daigo is a world champion at this game. He rarely, if ever, makes silly mistakes like that.
Regardless, even faking a double KO is rather extraordinary and takes an incredible amount of coordination from both players. Professional wrestling might be fake, but that doesn't change the fact that some of the things wrestlers do are still really damn impressive.

I too suspect that it was faked, for several reasons, but I also recognize the amount of preparation and team work that would be needed to pull that off. They put on a good show either way.
The possibility of that match being pre-arranged doesn't bother me simply because it was not a tournament match and was never intended to be a "serious" match between the two. The night seemed to be about hyping SSFIV and letting everyone have some fun by winning a round against one of the big names.
tl;dr It was entertaining to watch & they weren't tournament matches, so I'm cool with it being faked.

Man, I always figured pro's had a little more honor.
These guys are all about spamming & trying to corner you.
I might've fought these guys on SF4.

You don't get any awards for being honorable. It's either you win or lose.
And what's wrong with zoning and trapping ppl in the corner?
If you get trapped and arent good enough to get out, sucks..

I figured they were more skillful then the average street fighter & had therefore ascended to a level where they could destroy you without resorting to those tactics.

Combat is doing what it takes to win, not some ethereal garbage like honor. Let the other guy have honor, I'd rather win.

What? Isn't most (if not all) ring-based competition based on exploiting space and cornering?
What kind of 'ascended level' of play were you expecting? Did you expect both of them to transform into pure light energy and battle in space?
They are 2 of the best at the game. I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing.

They're two of the best SF players in the world. I'm sure they could destroy YOU without "resorting to those tactics," but they're not playing you; they're playing each other.

I'm calling troll. There was almost nothing spam-y about that match-up. Two of the best players using pressure and space control to give favor to themselves.
You would never see a boxing match where one person just backs off for no reason to let the other guy have a breather. That would be stupid and might cost you the match.

I'd pay good money to see that.

Actually I'm pretty sure Wong lost like twice against 2 other players that were there I was at the FC and I was watching when Daigo had his exhibition match against people who were there, he had like a 11 or 12 win streak. Wong's however went down to 1 or 2 a few times...

I agree with the original poster.
They should be more peaceful and in harmony with the world. It would be way better if they had just put down their controllers and said "You know what? Fighting is terrible. We should just plant trees and make love instead."

Wow the commentary really pissed me off. All I was hearing was "OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!? OH MY GOD!!!" and not enough "SONIC BOOM"

Yeah that was when I was done with sound. I had to get my ears to ignore the dialogue AND the dialogue audio quality in order to enjoy it. I had to go back and turn it up to hear a little more of the crowd reaction for the Double KO. I didn't even think that was a thing.

Holy hell that last round was amazing. Admittedly since I'm not into fighting games I skipped everything else to get to it, but it was totally worth my time to watch that incredible round.

Th reason Daigo chose Guile was because Seth asked him to. Plus, Daigo was playing as Guile for a lot of the other matches as well. I think he also chose Guile for his matches against Alex Valle. Screw the person who stole the equipment and footage. This is one of the reasons why game companies don't want to hold events like this and why E3 isn't open to the public. Thanks you asshole.

I think the last fighter I played more than a few minutes was Tekken 3 but I might pick up SSF4....it reminds me a lot of when my friends and I used to ride our bikes to the bowling alley to play SF2 in their little arcade all night. +1 for the epic final round, -1 to everyone who spoiled it posting here.
