Toy Story 3 trailer explains the customizable 'Toy Box' mode
73
We've got to hand it to Avalanche Software: You guys sure know how to inject a modicum of ingenuity into an extremely tired genre. For instance, the upcoming game adaptation of Toy Story 3 was off our proverbial radar moments after it was first announced -- however, a recent trailer for the game's "Toy Box" mode, which allows its (presumably juvenile) players to make their own levels and missions, it's now taking up a tiny place in our minds. (And our hearts.) Check out the highly customizable trailer above.

They're fully owned by Disney now, so you've got the Disney marketing machine behind this.

Actually, John Lasseter (co-founder of pixar and director of Toy Story 1-2, Bug's Life and Cars) is now director and chief creative office at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Same things happened fo all other pixar-pioneers. You might say pixar now rules disney.
Best example: princes and the frog. It's been years since I've seen a truly good, entertaining, classic disney story. Produced by Lasseter!

You seriously think half the Toy Story 3 audience won't be 20 somethings who watched it as a kid?

When I went to go watch Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D at the cinema, there were more teenagers/twenty year olds then little kids....

What, are you 12 and think you've outgrown G rated movies? Toy Story, and every Pixar movie appeals to ALL ages. I watched Toy Story 1 and 2 just the other day and I loved them, and I'm 16. And theres plenty of 20 year olds who grew up with Toy Story who can't wait for TS3. I can't either.

I guess I don't like nostalgia unless it's mine.

If you don't like Toy Story, you probably have no soul (figuratively speaking, of course).
I'd be all over this game if I were a bit younger.

I love classic Disney movies and Pixar flicks. Does that make me a child? I'm in my 20s and working for EA.
Also who else here thinks Toy Story 2 was an abomination? I can't wait for Toy Story 3. Hopefully it will be as epic as Toy Story 1 so we can all forget 2 ever happened.
.......will be a shame Slink won't make an appearance.............

But the thing is with Pixar movies you don't have to watch for purely "nostalgia" reasons. They are just legitimately good movies. If you can't see that then it's probably best that you don't watch them, we don't need a bunch of 14 year olds in the theater being loud and obnoxious.

Actually, Slinky will be back. Blake Clark is doing the voice for him this time. He was actually friends with Jim and it sounds VERY close to what he did.

The Cars game for 360 was actually really well done, different developers though. Nostalgia would be a force working against me if this comes out though.

Do you honestly believe there's a reasonable doubt that this wont come out? Get your head out of your ass.

Having a bad day today. Just saw my copy of Ocarina of Time get run over by my brothers car. Why it was on the road, I don't know. Sorry if I came off as a dick.

Is anyone besides me utterly sick of the term "The Video Game?" I mean are we just dumb sheep to them? Do they really think that even though the box says Wii/360/PS3 that we won't be able to figure it out without "The Video Game" plastered all over it? I don't know if i'm just venting now but for some reason it just gets under my skin. I mean it really is THE WORST possible subtitle you could have am i wrong?

Good point, but it works the other way around as well. Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie being a particularly guilty example.

You obviously have not worked in retail, especially Toy's R Us. I'd have parents ask me "Is this Cars the game or the movie?" While we might be able to tell the difference parents, especially those who don't give two damns about what games their kids play let alone tell the difference between atari and xbox will appreciate the little nod they've been given.
