I'm really loving the beta. While I'm terrible at it, it's great to see Blizzard being so public about everything now. I'm totally going to be getting the collector's edition when it comes out. The story looks like it's going to be awesome, and I really just want to see how everything unveils in this first installment

having a lot more fun in beta than i thought i was going to. There's some (a lot) of unbalanced tactics but every patch seems to address them quickly and with no real release date they should have plenty of time to get a decent balance by launch. I think most issues could be solved by just increasing the costs of certain units so that they can't be massed so quickly, but that's just my untested theory...hopefully the next patch will let us use custom maps so I can test it. Awesome rts

all in marauder or zealot rush is especially harmful lol. roaches have been balanced somewhat, but mutalisks can still rip into almost any army. other than that, its relatively balanced, but i'd like to see the phoenix play a more useful role

@WhiteShield
What ladder do you play on? I find in the platinum ladders that pheonix are incredibly devastating especially against zerg. Sadly, mutas will eat through them, all splash damage units need to be retooled as of now...

unfortunately, i play in copper and bronze lol. i usually preface that i'm in the lower ladders but i guess i forgot. in my experiences though, while there are the high level players, a critical mass of the players are probably in the silver and under leagues. maybe that's just me hoping people are as bad as i am though lol.
and yeah, i'd love to see the muta be slightly nerfed, even if just in cost while the phoenix gets buffed. it has so much potential, yet the primary unit it is supposed to counter can still tear it to shreds. but i have been seeing some videos on youtube (huskystarcraft just posted one i think) where there is some just crazy phoenix micro that obliterates the zerg

"Like those boxes, while technically expansion sets, are going to be a lot of work and really dense experiences in and of themselves."

Cue the expansions being a full $60 each too. Sounds like as good a justification for pricing higher than $20 as I've ever heard.

Yeah, I picked up on that too. It might be meant as a joke but it's pretty ignorant really. He could've spoken about the social reasons as to why the game got an 18+ rating given Starcraft 1's impact over there and the professional players and leagues, but no, instead we get a silly comment along the lines of 'oh those crazy Asians, they're so different!'

And everyone ive been talking to has been saying "You dont need the new games to play online, they are just going to be single player" with my rebuttals of "no one will buy it if there arent at least new units."

And now we know for sure. Buy the game 3x in the next 3 years (?) to stay competitive online.

Blizzard won't match you against people who buy the expansion sets. You'd obviously get steamrolled by the new units. You'll only be paired with your fellow stubborn misers.

I wish they would fix the bug in the beta where you log in, but your actually playing someone elses account. I placed copper league but I play against pros because Im playing on an account placed in gold. I fucking hate it

well they periodically wipe the beta to simulate launch conditions (at least thats what the updates say). in the latest one, i did get a different profile picture thing (was a muta instead of the marine b4 they changed the portraits all together) and had to redo my placement matches, but it sounds like you actually got a different account all together which just sounds terrible b/c i would get destroyed if i was in the gold ladder
