One of the game features promised during Monkey Island 2: Special Edition's announcement event was an audio commentary track that could be accessed at certain points in the game. Today, the identities of the commentators have been revealed: Tim Schafer, Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman -- none other than the original game's trio of designers.
Check out a behind-the-scenes video above, in which the three beloved adventure game creators introduce themselves and explain their roles in the title's development. We never knew Schafer had such humble, subordinate beginnings!

explain Brutal Legend...
I mean the concept was good, and it was humorous but not much else.

i am really not that excited for this game .... Lucasarts should be making TimeSpliters 4 or Star Wars Battlefront 3 instead of remakes

Actually Lucas Arts administrates Free Radical now, so they do have a say on Timesplitters 4. I'd prefer if Free Radical had free reign over TS4. I can respect his opinion of not caring for Monkey Island, despite that nearly being blasphemy in my book.

I knew they were doing a commentary but seeing it actually happen is making me giddy.

I don't think Hit the Road really needs a special edition. It already looked quite nice, it was animated far better than the MI games and had voice overs. I wouldn't mind seeing it redone but Monkey Island 1&2 were definitely higher priority..
and then there's Loom, the Digg, etc..

Personally I would like to see Hit the Road and Curse of Monkey Island cleaned up so that they looked more hand drawn and less pixely, and updated for widescreen resolutions.
Unfortunately I don't think they plan on updating Loom or The Dig, as they're already on Steam.

And by the way, if you're planning a SE of Hit the Road, and I hope you are, Lucasarts, follow my advice... KEEP THE ORIGINAL VOICES. And make them record any new dialogue if you're thinking of adding some, okay? Bill Farmer and Nick Jameson gave Sam and Max their own unique charm that was lacking in the current series. I have been asking Telltale to remake their series with the original voices, but they still haven't listened.
And while you're at it, UNCANCEL FREELANCE POLICE. Okay?

@Fausk:
I definitely agree-- the main thing keeping me from enjoying the new games are the lackluster replacement voices for Sam and Max. The heavily pale in comparison to the originals... if they DID change the voices for the special edition, I wouldn't be buying it. :(

I think that may have more to do with just being used to the old voices. I've heard all three different iterations of the Sam & Max voices, and I'm just fine with the recent ones. The originals sound a bit odd to me, but I can understand why people would like them. I also wonder if Steve Purcell had much say in who got to do the voices in that one, since both the cartoon and the more recent games have a more similar style, and I think Purcell has more say in those. But who knows?

i don´t really think so, ron has said many times in his page that one of the reasons he never said what was the true secret of monkey island is because he didn´t lose hope that maybe one day he´ll have the opportunity to finish the game as he planned it. Right now ron is no longer with the company with which he created deathspank, dave grossman works and is one of the big guys at taletales, tim schaffer is not doing anything right now as far as i know, and lucasarts is very interested in bringing new life to their old franchises, and the best example is tales of monkey island, to be honest i can´t think of a better time for finishing monkey island with the real chapter 3, i just hope they can see it too.
