What bothers me is that no one is saying anything. Even a toddler can put toghether that everyone leaving IW for Respawn is no coinsidence. It has to be personal, but then again, why wouldn't they pay their greatest studio their well deserved bonuses?

And if it's nothing terrible then why keep Amrich, your link to the public, compleatly in the dark?

Can somebody bring me up to speed here?

No one is saying anything because there is on going litigation from Activision (corporate espionage) towards IW co-founder West & Zampella and litigation (for unpaid bonuses) from West and Zampella towards Activision.

This is EXACTLY what happened with Tecmo/ Team Ninja. Itagaki was owed royalties from DOA4 from Tecmo. Tecmo refused to pay. Itagaki left, took a bunch of his crew with him, and they made their own company.

This actually caused a large drop in Tecmo's stock price.

The end result was Tecmo ended up merging with Koei. Obviously Acti/Blizz is too big for that to happen, but still its funny how history tends to repeat itself.

Note to game companies: Pay your developers.

Interesting theory. I wonder though, if Treyarch did become IW how would the additional people from IW team mesh together in the workplace? I doubt Activision would care at this point.

From a PR perspective, merging the two would probably so more harm than good to their image. It would show everyone that they had no plans to pay out the earned bonuses in the first place.I believe it would also hurt their talent/recruitment pipeline, as no one would want to work with a company that has had a public image of being shady/greedy/not caring about ethics.

It was all a big scam on EA's part from the beginning. They send West and Zampella over to work for Activision, make a franchise so big that Activision would become totally dependent on them, then leave and return to partner with EA and leave Activision to collapse.

It's brilliant!

The truly sad thing is that Activision will continue to crank out COD and the general public, who know nothing of these issues, will eat it up and Activision will continue to roll in money - for a while at least.

The thing I'm hoping for most is that the court rules that West/Zampalla have creative control over the MW brand and Activision can never release another one - they'll still make money but that would be a big satisfying FU in their direction.

Activision isn't the only greedy, slimy publisher in he business but they truly represent everything that is wrong with the industry - I'll make my teeny tiny contribution by turning my customers off from anything they publish - Split Second over Blur, MOH over COD, etc.

Can we all agree that IW is no more? Core talent and leadership are gone. That's it. Whatever is left will become something different. But now IW. Activision thinks the value is in the brand. Game buyers will determine whether the value is in the talent or not.

But you're also forgetting that the common gamer is also a moron that couldn't give two shits about Activision, blind loyalty will make them buy under the Infinity Ward name - even if they removed all of it's staff and replaced them with some new guys.

If Activision wanted to stop the talent from pouring out of its premiere developer, they should've installed a siphon filter...
