The just-released single-player Split/Second demo, now available on Xbox Live to all subscribers, teaches you the most important thing about driving a race car through America: how to dodge massive explosions. One in 253 race car drivers meets their maker like that every year, you know.
PS3 owners will be able to join in on May 11th and hurtle through the Airport Terminal level in race mode, triggering environmental destruction and aeronautical disaster on the way to the finish line. Split/Second hits retail on May 18.

Looks great, can't wait to try it out. I used to be skeptical about arcady racers but this game looks like I could convert me.

I played this at PAX. The driving itself is way more strict than it is in Blur, so you can't just hold down the right trigger the whole time, but I consider that to be a good thing (and I love Blur.)
Great game. Can't wait to put some time in on it.

Demo was ok, nothing great IMO.

Nice, I've been looking forward to this since E3 last year. Blur is fun for a little while but lets be honest, its practically a skinned Mario Kart.

For those of us with young children who won't buy a Wii, a re-skinned Mario Kart is exactly what I want.

But on Playstation 1 out of 256 race car drives meet their maker like this. And ONLY on Playstation.
Can't wait for the game. I'll admit I bit on Gamestops pre-order so I can get the cool little car along with the game.

I have been ruined for all other racers by the amazing loving of Burnout Paradise, but this looks really promising.

This demo has a serious case of the teal-and-orange.

The demo is not multiplayer? I think they should have included that in so that a better comparision between it and Blur can be made.
Most of the time, people only play the offline game to get money to buy cars of a higher class or become eligible for higher class cars, to then race them online.
I gotta say, Blur has been the most fun online I've had in a racing game since PGR2 and Burnout: Revenge. However, I'll see how this ranks after I get home today.

As of right now, Split/Second seems more interesting to me than Blur. I don't know why, but it is.

Why do PS3 owners always get sloppy seconds? Dammit. My gf and now this....

Dang even after Sony pushing the update to Tuesday PS3 owners still don't catch a break...
I guess that's why it's better to own both than just one. The rare times I do miss out on a console exclusive is for Wii and it's because I don't feel like unpacking it...

Wouldn't it be great if we could have the powerups from Blur AND the environmental destruction from this in the same game?

i had this on pre-order and cancelled after playing the demo. the sense of speed failed to come close to that of Burnout Revenge, my favorite racer and still fastest feeling game to date (that i have played). Am i just jaded by BR or is anyone else feeling that Split Second fails to give a good sense of speed?
Posted: Apr 28th 2010 6:18PM WiredKnight said
I think you're jumping to conclusions. The demo only lets you use one car, there are bound to be faster ones.

That's funny.
I thought NYC was the only American city where the drivers had to deal with random explosions and collapses.

I'm looking forward to trying this one. It doesn't look as cool as Burnout Revenge but it's got to be better than Burnout Paradise.
