Best Buy confirms Alpha Protocol 'Stealth Weapons Pack' pre-order bonus

Sega and Best Buy wired a press release confirming the Stealth Weapons Pack for Alpha Protocol, which includes "the Hamilton Marksman High-Accuracy Pistol, the Samael Typhoon High Recoil Control SMG and a bonus arsenal of ammo and mines." Huh, since when did the purveyors of home appliances start manufacturing weaponry?

The extra spy gear is only available through in-store Best Buy pre-orders, so you'll have to put on your best camo and infiltrate your local store if you want 'em.

yaaa for preorder bonuses!

aka content we take out of the game and put as bonuses so everyone can't have them if you buy it at a different store.

so an extra gun with three adjectives is going to make me buy it early? not lol

as stated above, another fkin JOKE. POB my ass. Stop sugar coating what it is (an early buyer incentive to the detriment of the normal 'reasonable' buyer) - that is a message to game companies not Joystiq of course.

Between DLC and POB it's a wonder we have any actual GAME left for our largest investment of cash.

I still think this game is doomed to failure.

I hope it doesn't fail, I love splinter cell and hitman, but honestly conviction was like.. I dunno less than 10 hours of gameplay.

Blood money was last hitman game, and it was a long time back, I don't even know if a new one is in production.

That said, the commercial I saw for it.. It looked amazingly cheap. Like not AAA at all.

I hate this pre-order bullshit.

What if you don't live in a region or country where the promotion is valid in, what if there are no participating stops local to your home, what if you have a preferred other retailer you always use ?

Does having this uber equipment at the beginning of a game unbalance it and make it a bit too easy, is not having this pre-order bonus going to make the first few levels more difficult ?

I really don't like paying full price for a game and being denied access to content on the disc. There has been a few games now that have had multiple pre-order bonuses at different stores, what is the point of that ?, I can't buy a copy from everyone of them, Then they try to sell me the stuff I've missed out on because I got it from A instead of B. But it's already on the disc.

Couldn't agree more! I had to miss out on the Golden Guns for Uncharted 2 because (I don't think) they were available as a pre order bonus in Canada. I also wanted to get the Nathan Drake Kart for Modnation Racers, but since I perfer to order from Amazon I had to settle for Ratchet and Clank. They should just have one pre order bonus for all stores.
