Capcom wants to put Frank West into as many games as possible

It was a tough blow to hear that Frank West wouldn't star in Dead Rising 2. All was not lost, however: Frank not only cut his teeth fighting less undead opponents in Tatsunoko vs Capcom, but there's some evidence he'll be in Marvel vs Capcom 3 -- and let's not forget his cameo in Lost Planet 2.

According to Capcom's Seth Killian, Frank West is pretty damn popular in these parts, something of which Capcom of Japan is aware. He told Destructoid that not only is Capcom of Japan "convinced" that your everyday American loves the Dead Rising protagonist, but that he'll "be making appearances in as many games as they can get him into."

Personally, we're all for it. Whatever he's in, we just hope it spawns more hilarious internet videos.

I'm not sure I agree with the idea that he's really so popular.

I mean, I know he's covered wars and all, but.. so has Geraldo.

Capcom franchises with plenty of charismatic/likeable characters:

Devil May Cry (is anyone cooler than Dante in DMC1?)
Bayonetta (the protagonist has everything you could ask for)
Ace Attorney (don't tell me you didn't smirk during some of those courtroom antics)
Resident Evil (I actually cared about what happened to the survivors)
Street Fighter (one word: Guy)
Viewtiful Joe (dynamic poses never looked so cool)
Megaman (every 2D gamer has a soft spot in their heart for the blue bomber)
Darkstalkers (Felicia... rawr...)

In other words, ALL of them...

Bayonetta was published by Sega. It's okay, I can understand the confusion, seeing how it was developed by former Capcom staff (Platinum used to be part of Clover before it was closed/absorbed into Capcom).

I'd agree with everything on that list, except Felicia. Her voice got kinda annoying and I just hated that.

I'll get a downvote for this I'm sure but

it's no surprise, he's one of the very few capcom characters with a likeable personality. Seriously, great gamey games, but most their characters are either flat or annoying.

Hmm, Vanessa Z. Schneider. I didn't think she was annoying, but with those curves, she definitely wasn't flat. . . .

Actually, Frank West is kind of a dick.

am I the only one who thinks that the Frank West character as paid DLC for Dead Rising 2 is absolutely going to happen? All the big DR fans will buy it instantly, and Capcom is all about milking the DLC cow by leaving out stuff they should have had in the game in the first place these days. Didn't they do paid DLC for RE5 to give you Jill and Chris? Or was that only if you re-bought the whole damn game as Gold edition?

Crackp1pe, I'm pretty sure it's completely reasonable to sell a side-story involving different characters as DLC.

Well with an image like that, I'd want him in as many games as possible, too.

I have sad news my friend. It seems Frank West was attacked on his way to Left 4 Dead. He tried to escape, but the zombies were just to fast for him. While no corpse has yet been recovered he is presumed dead. He could have made it too if he just had some film....

His art looks like him, it's just his 3D textures/model that looks off. Like he's balding, and has thicker facial hair. Wouldn't be the first time Capcom's had a discrepancy between 2D and 3D (in Megaman Powered Up, Megaman's 3D model had green eyes, but he should have had blue eyes just like his 2D art).

They love him so much they took him out of the series? Um. Typical Capcom movie really.

That Dead Rising was a hit came out of left field for Capcom....which is stupid because why go through all that if you don't expect to come out on top?

Win big or go home (which is a genuine industry fault/con right now.)

He was also in Lost Planet PC / PS3 and Lost Planet Colonies.

Making Frank a cast member wouldn't be balanced enough. He went through enough traning at ninja photographer's academy to tear through at least 300,000 zombies with his bare hands.

It's the pose, I thought the same thing until I read the headline, and even still was put off.

But they were slow and shambling, and he had plenty of supplies.
Besides, the average kill-count post-campaign is around 500 a survivor, and across 5 campaigns, that get's pretty close.

Plus frank didn't have to deal with TANKS.

Well we know hes covered wars, now it looks like he's gonna cover everything else.

Frank West is everywhere you want to be!

Put him in the next Mega Man game as Camera Man.

If you took those glasses off, you might be able to see those awful misspellings, maybe even the missing verb and the run-on.

Frank West is one of the most hilarious character in Tatsunoko vs Capcom, so yeah, I want to see more of him as long as there are variety of moves/costumes.

he could be in the former infinity ward game maybe published by capcom to cover their war. He was all over Lost Planet, I used to have at least one person playing frank on every match. I loved the first dead rising but I really don't care if I never see frank again, but if we get a dead rising 1.5 that says what happens after the true ending of the first that would be great. Anyways wouldn't he turn into a zombie after awhile?

In his defense, he did say once before that english isn't his native language, but sure, go on and be a jerk.

I also agree I didn't even make the connection it was him until I read the headline.

Capcom thinks a 30 something brown haired nondescript white guy is a good character to push in the west?

Is this like a tongue in cheek jab at the western "Hardcore"?
