Naughty Bear pre-order costumes pay tribute to slasher movie villains

The gameplay of A2M's Naughty Bear, in which you either outright murder other bears or scare them into killing themselves, is missing something. It seems like there's some additional touch that could really sell the idea of becoming a revenge-obsessed villain preying on the worst fears of those around you.

Like, perhaps, a Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhees outfit.

Publisher 505 Games announced that you'll get precisely that (well, almost precisely: it's a "Kruebear" costume or a "Slasher Bear" outfit) when you pre-order Naughty Bear from Amazon or GameStop, respectively. The Kruebear offer isn't reflected on the Amazon page yet -- but expect to be offered the chance to tear stuffing out of bears' bodies with some knife-gloves soon. I want to order this, just to reward them for the joy I've gotten in the marketing. Been following the game on facebook and it makes me laugh.

But, even at the "bargain price" of $49.99 I'm still afraid it'll suck too badly. So I'm waiting for reviews on this one. I hope it's good enough to warrant a buy.

What is the specific quality in the gameplay that everyone thinks is going to make this title tank? It's not aesthetics or character design cause everyone loves em.

I'm still trying to figure out why everyone wrote this off right out of the starting gate.

Beats me. Seems like it's Conker's Bad Furday meets Manhunt. Not sure how that's a bad thing in any respect.

I don't think it's anything specific; it's just that there has been no gameplay footage shown. Some screenshots of what was supposed to be gameplay showed pretty sub-par graphics.

I hate myself for being so skeptical of the game, but from what I've seen/heard, it cannot possibly be as good as it seems: it's a budget title (already raises flags), and all of the videos have shown horrendous textures and low-poly character models. If anything, this should have been an XBLA title.

budget titles can be good. IE: 3d dot game heroes.

Finally, someone sane. Too many people are hyped for a cute sandbox, and a mediocre-looking one at that.

crappy title or not you know you are getting it day 1.
