Record of Agarest War on PSN this week, requires 18GB of free space

Aksys' not-actually-very-erotic-but-being-marketed-that-way SRPG Record of Agarest War is finally coming to the North American PlayStation Store this week. Available this Thursday for $44.99, the only way you'll be able to play this game on PS3 is to download the game via PSN. However, don't expect to play the game right away. As promised, it's a hefty download: 10GB.

However, while the download is 10GB, you'll need 18GB of free space on your hard drive in order to complete the installation. To see how much free space you have, go to System Settings -> System Information on the XMB. If you plan on having the game download and install overnight, go to Users -> Turn Off System once you queue up the download, so that your PS3 can automatically shut down after installing the game.

wow, 18GB is insane! while i do have enough room for it, that is going to be one really REALLY long download. that's really going to tie up my internet if i end up downloading it. while 45 dollars is quite a bit of money, the price might go down at some point over the summer and i might get it then

10GB is like downloading two-and-a-half high-def rentals or something like that. If you have a good connection it shouldn't be a ridiculous amount of time. Besides, you can just set it to download before bed and tell the system to turn off once its done.

i realize that the download is 10gb, but i don't download movies off of PSN and really, my internet can be flaky at times, so a 10gb download might put a lot of strain on there. ya, i can do it before bed, and that's what i'm going to do if i get it. but still, thats a big download lol

Pssshh, 10GB.

50 Mb/s cable broadband + 320GB HDD = Win.

Who is really gonna waste so much bandwidth. I was interested in this game but this is just too much, too much time to download, and to much space to take up, and i got a 500 gig drive.

People who don't have limits on their bandwidth. You know, civilized folk.

hehe, I wasted DOUBLE that on a 1080p rip of Avatar this morning, and the download finished in about 2 hours.

Dump Comcast, go with Surewest for FIOS. No bandwidth limitations for me.

$44.99 is a bit steep I know its a PS3 game and all but 18GB means the file will probably a lot time to download unless you have a very fast internet connection to download it. I bet the ;price will likely go down in the following months as I'll wait till then. What sucks is that its on PSN and not released on a bluray disc.

It will end up only taking up 9+ gb installed, the install process for downloads requires almost double the download then the original file will be deleted; its not that bad, download Siren and lets talk. Side note Siren was worth the download time.

I've never understood that about PSN downloads. Why does it download the package and then recopy the entire thing to some other location (on the same disk)? It would make sense if the package were compressed and required unzipping, but since the end result of the installation is the same size as the download, that isn't the case. Is there some sort of authentication or fidelity checking going on (for every single byte)?

So its a 10GB DL that takes up 18GB downloaded and costs $15 less than the disc 360 version and its boob mouse pad.

Meh. I might wait for a sale. Might.

With the PSN's slow upload(To our PS3's) this will take FOREVER. But since it's free I wouldn't complain tbh

I actually imported the game from the UK for that same price once converted from pounds to dollars.

Disc version would be way better.

In the PS3 and PSP; you need double the size to be able to download it, if you want a 4GB game, you need almost 8GB free in the HDD....

At the end, this game is gonna be almost 10GB in the HDD....

And I think the 360 version is in disc, why not the PS3 version?

Blame Sony's certification process.

A disc version would be nice and not everyone has super-fast broadband. Before I graduate from college, I'm downloading as much as I can from their fast network. Too bad you can't download PS3 content from a computer. : (

WOW! That may be the biggest game on PSN to date!
And for me, it's gonna take forever, since I only have a 2Mbps connection, and doing some math that's:

2 Mbps = 256 KB/s = 931.64 MB/h = 0,9098 GB/h

meaning that I will have the game downloaded in 10,99 hours. And since my connection is NEVER at full speed, it can take an extra hour.

And I don't sleep that much!

Glad I installed a 500GB HD in my original 60 gig... So that doesn't bug me. nearly $50 though? That's a little... up there... May have to hold off and hope for a summer deal or something, $25 or $30.

Save your money. I imported the UK version and the game is basically cross edge tactics but slower. They're trying to over market anime girls in compromising positions in hopes that people will look past the actual "gameplay".

Wow 18GBs!? On top of that its 45 bucks! What a crock, seriously the pricing is offensive enough but nothing over 4GBs should be released as a single title. This is why an all digital console would blow, even on my Fios connection that would take forever.

Hard disk copy please ;o;

damn it's been 13 hours since i started downloading it and its barely at 37% :P fudge lol curse my slow internet speed
