or maybe he just thinks those are really good sticks and if he can get money out of it at the same time its a win win. I find it hard to believe he would sacrifice his ability to play at his top level just to promote fight sticks.

A Justin Wong stick would just be a single button macro'd to throw a fireball.

"Umehara will offer his considerable expertise to Mad Catz during the design process on future joysticks."

So, in other words, don't buy the SSFIV versions of the FightSticks, but wait for the Daigo edition of the FightSticks.

The more important part here is that Daigo is now assured of having sticks that are as close as possible to the ones in Japanese arcades to use whenever he's competing abroad.

"Selling out" refers to the perception that someone is compromising their integrity, morality, or principles in exchange for money or "success" (however defined). It is commonly associated with attempts to tailor material to a mainstream audience. Any artist who expands their creative path to encompass a wider audience, as opposed to continuing in the genre and venues of their initial success, may be disdainfully labeled by disapproving fans as a sellout. Selling out is often seen as gaining success at the cost of credibility.

That's selling out.

And yes, I took this from Wikipedia.

So in video games terms Nintendo is considered a sellout?

Good Question...

I would say not yet. Nintendo is doing games like Wii Fit but there still making the games they are famous for. I would say that Activision (who were the rebel of industry in the 80s) more of a sell out than Nintendo.

The only real negative that I see here is that MadCatz is an atrocious company, and when their Daigo products fail - and they WILL fail, make no mistake about it - then that's going to make Daigo look bad.

The only reason why the tournament sticks work is because they use parts from a different company. In this case that company is Sanwa, which is known for quality parts.

Anyone who has used the controllers that are actually made by MadCatz - the fight pads in particular - will tell you that their products are still total trash. Just flat out garbage. The standard edition (white) fight stick is known to wear out within a couple of weeks. Even the PCB in the tournament stick, which is the only MadCatz part inside of the TE, is known to fail and be a bad part!

Daigo, dude. You have chosen.... poorly.

That's why I root for Daigo and not Wong. It forever cemented the way I look at these two guys. Wong the cheap sleezy guy, versus Daigo, the professional, respectful player.

Wong is definitely not cheap for trying to chip Daigo there. It was a smart play considering the circumstances.

If it's in the game, and both players accept to play under the same terms, then nothing is cheap.

That pic is inaccurate. They cut the sides off the final version of the TE fight stick for SSIV.

Actually, that picture is correct. The problem is it's an awkward camera angle, at an awkward camera projection, with shitty lighting.

Blame the 3D mockup guy.

"All you know about me is what I've sold you,
Dumb ****.
I sold out long before you ever heard my name."

The parts of the in the TE are awesome, Sawa parts thought i did change to seis for lower sensitivity.. This is good for Daigo and the community in general. How anyone can't see this is really just ignorant about the scene. Also JW and Daigo are BOTH great guys, Don't talk out your butt because of what you perceive to cooler just because daigo is softspoken. He loves how the american scene is compared to Japan's. He said himself players really get more hype about it. then again we are loud obnoxious americans right?

I angst at skilled gamers from the safety of the internet because I'm nobody at the fighting game scene. Daigo is a sellout and Justin Wong is a spam artist. Back to obscurity I gooooo...

Good for him!

I'll stick to assembling my own fight stick though.
Unless mad catz can create something that rivals the HRAP that is decently priced :x
