Dead Space 2 trailer leaked, then pulled (... so that's what Isaac looks like)

Joystiq readers know we're fond of one Ms. Lexine Murdoch, or, as she's known around these parts, Dead Space Girl. Well, we'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Mr. Isaac Clarke, the oft-masked engineer (and protagonist) from the first title. While you may think this is the first time you're actually laying eyes on the mysterious Mr. Clarke, we'd like to direct your attention to this video from the 2008 original. While Isaac looks a little worse for wear after the harrowing ordeal aboard the USG Ishimura, we're glad to see he hasn't lost his trademark sense of humor ...

The image comes from the first trailer for Dead Space 2, apparently called "Dementia" according to Scrambled Pixel, who somehow tracked the video down early. We say "early" since we're assuming this was the treat intended to be released tomorrow, on 4/29/10, the date coded into the Rorschach inkblot we received earlier this week. Oh, also because it's now been pulled from YouTube "due to a copyright claim by EA."

Don't worry though, we remember everything! It had the usual Dead Space fare: Necromorphs, Necromorphs vomiting, the Marker, crazy alien runes, and the above reveal (but not really!) of happy-go-lucky space miner Isaac's face. On second thought, you should probably just stop back tomorrow.

That was a cruel joke... I found the full version of that half-life art on a community site...so basically FAKE!

I can't believe that everyone is complaining that he looks like a tough ass, normal dude. What do you expect? Crazy anime hair? It's Dead Space, not Tales of Necromorphia.

Haters. Dead Space was one of the best games of this generation, and I'm sure the sequel will turn out great as well. And if they give Isaac a personality and a few lines of dialog here and there, even better!

Besides - he doesn't even LOOK like a space marine. I see a slightly ugly, unshaven, worn out, exhausted looking guy - who is probably going insane.

yeah he really doesn't look like your archetypal space marine dickhead. The video posted in the comments was fairly low quality, but it looked like he had a good deal more hair than a buzzcut, and I don't recall any modified super soldiers looking so haggard and distressed

Issac's face wasn't a mystery, you got to see it at the start and end of Dead Space.

DId you guys even play the game?

I just went through the whole DSG article phase. I couldn't stop laughing and remembering great times.

Ahh, I'm not gonna lie I got a little excited. Even if the game is more "action" and less horror im still going to check it out, Isaac is so kick-ass in the first one, and im really curious to see what happens. Damnit EA! Hurry it up!

I like to call it not 'Survival' horror but 'Action' horror. The game is still scary, even if you can blow the shit out of enemies. There's little of the traditional Survival elements, but I would say the first game is still plenty scary - just not scary because you don't have ammo and you're limited to turning only while not moving! The game didn't use crippling mechanics to provide the scares, it used good old fashioned environment and suspense. That's why I loved it so much - I was a bad ass but still scared at the same time.

I felt sorry for the guy in the first game because of all the grunt work he had to do. I just wish they didnt change the look of his face from the first game. I like that one more. I cared for that one more. This new look, I have to wait in see once I play the game.

You guys do know that during the opening video you could rotate the camera so that you could see his face right?

Anyways, I can't wait for DS2. I absolutely LOVED the first and as long as they change their minds and keep this LESS actiony than what it sounds like they're planning, than I will be sold (screw that, I already am).

Oh and his face looks fine. I can't imagine anybody else would be looking all happy and clean after fighting off a horde of freaks on a space ship, and having everyone you worked with/loved die (usually right in front of you)...

why did those graphics look so poor?

I don't understand the issue here... he looks like he did in the first game, just far more worse for the wear.

I think people's complaint is that he doesn't look verbatim from the first game...and why should he? This's not exactly the same team that worked on the first one, so I'd expect them to take some artistic license on the sequel.

He did look a bit more sensitive in the first game...plus...he managed to grow back more hair on top of his head.

And the teaser trailer rocks so hard.

The first game didnt scare me in the slightest bit. I mean honestly.. I keep reading about how tremendously frightening this game is. Yet i feel nothing from it. Im more scared with the "jump out suddenly in my face" type of tactis. Gruesome horror games ? eh not so much..

It's more of a teaser than trailer. Anyway, that's one awesome helmet. I hope we get to play Isaac again and not some new dude. Hopefully, we get an announcement soon or this coming E3 or whatever.

I agree with JerkFace, I was so glad that Isaac just looked like a normal guy and didn't have the usual super good looking features that most heroines do. Would be nice if he talked though, whereas the part of him you could attach yourself to him was his rawr-noises when he stomped on something lol.
