Rumor: Leaked GameStop ad reveals black Wii bundle

If you've been waiting for a chance to buy one of those lovely black Wii systems that every region in the world except for North America has, your chance may come soon. An image of a purported GameStop display ad acquired by Kotaku shows a bundle, containing a black Wii, a Wiimote and MotionPlus, and both Wii Sportses, for $200. Kotaku asserts that this ad was not to be placed in stores until May 4.

Earlier rumors suggest that the black Wii would be released in the U.S. on May 9 and in Canada on May 23, a timeline that roughly fits in with the supposed timing of the GameStop ad. When we spoke to Nintendo yesterday about those rumors, the company told us only that it "does not comment on rumors or speculation." Additionally, an Amazon rep told Joystiq, "There has been no official announcement from Nintendo" about the black system's release date in North America.

And because it is black, it will make the games better, the wiimote as responsive as the Move, and the graphics to pwn the PS3.

The move's responsiveness is a non-issue. Thinking technologically is misunderstanding why the $200-for-729-Mhz Wii is succeeding in the first place.

hahaha... well, the music is not my career tho... I just play guitar and bass as a hobby... I know I'm not a musician expert... but I don't think I suck that bad.

And yeah... the job at Sony was kinda unexpected... my girlfriend (I got divorced in 2008) works for Sony, and she recommended me with Sony's HR department.

PC Social gaming is called a LAN party, and oh yes, its better than console social gaming.

@Jerry: Same games? Gears 2, Halo 3/Reach, Fable II/III, LBP, God of War, inFamous, Killzone, Heavy Rain... Actually any Sony game. What worthwile games do you guys have that consoles don't besides MMOs? Also, as that comic pointed out, console gaming is for people with friends.

Dead? Nah, just very busy and this blog got boring after a while. Remember I did say back in Feb of 2009 that I would be too busy playing KZ2 and the mountain of quality software that the PS3 now has to come here and bicker back and forth.

For me, these sites and the comments are like professional wrestling....after a while it get old saying the same things over and over again just to have fun.

Mountains of good Ps3 software?? I'm confused. See i was going to buy a Ps3 6 months ago, so i check out Gamerankings for the top 20 Ps3 games. I found out more than half of them are done better on PC, 2 of the games are just special editions of 2 other games in the top 20, so that left me with God of War (which i want), Little Big Planet (didnt like), MGS4 (want), SF4 (never ever liked the SF games), Rock Band 2 (I'm a GH person sorry) and Uncharted 2 (want!!). Wow, thats um, so many great games worth getting a Ps3 for...hrm. Then realised that as long as i have a gaming PC, i'll only ever be buying a HD console for its exclusives, which are few and far between anyway. I'll still get a Ps3 when the price comes down, i also wanna play FFXIII and Devil May Cry 4, but in reality when the Wii has the most exclusive games, and the PC plays most games the HD consoles do, it diminishes their value-for-money when only buying for exclusives.

Gonna get two of these and stack them around my current Wii like an oreo. Awww yeah.

I would have bought this black over white in the first place. So odd. My TV, couch, coffee table, TV stand, and electronics are all black. The Wii and Xbox stick out like a sore thumb. Only upside is dust does not show as well on white.

Dunno what you're getting at. I find Wii games look great on my TV. Obviously, as we know, not comparable to Xbox/PS3. They aren't horrible though. Well, not all games.

Ditto. I think that black should always be a launch option for a home console. White sucks. I don't really play the Wii enough to warrant exchanging it for a black one though, so I guess I'll just keep the one I've got. I did however sell my 360 and get a black Elite... but there was the additional motivations of gaining HDMI and a newer board less prone to RRoD.

I love HD, but it isn't necessary to enjoy games and movies to me. It's like being with a pretty good looking girl and a hot girl. Both are just as fun, one's just better looking.

But what if the pretty good looking girl also controlled like shit.

Meh, I'm used to playing on a computer that puts the 360 to shame (in 1080p) - I still have no problems looking at Wii games.

I am sorry if I don't want to be stuck in the 1990's when it comes to graphical fidelity.

Yes, I like eye candy graphics, I also like compelling gameplay, wide variety, and fun....something that IMO Sony has been very very good at since the PS1 arrived on store shelves.

We can respect the fact of that, but your wording is rather crucial in the reaction people gain of you.

It's not a matter of just "going back" to SD. It's a matter of SD looking like utter sh## on an HDTV.

I'll be buying another Wii now....and putting the white one in the kids room for this very reason....all my other "boxes" in the living room are black....

Finally someone said what I've been dealing with all my consoles ps3 elite tv and even dvr are black I stayed away from the wiu just because it would look stupid among all my other devices

I usually play my lil Sister's Wii when I wanna try out a new release but if the new Metroid plays how it looks, I maybe buying a Wii for my self...
