Who cares? Prototype was bad, and it's an Activision game.

Have to agree with ESC, I thought Prototype was a pretty fun game. In fact I'd say I enjoyed it much more than Infamous.

And being an Activision game has to do with anything because....?

I dunno, I couldn't find prototype to be fun at all.

And because Activision games are usually crap? The fact that just about everyone here says they support an activision boycott.

Activision is a publisher. If you feel prototype was a bad game, blame Radical. Yes Activision sucks, but they aren't always the ones who make a game bad.

Trust me I know why to hate Activision, as a future game dev I know.

But their games have been nothing but crap as of lately.

What's with the idea that Activision themselves sit down and create games?

@ Spike - I think that's the point. They DON'T make games, yet the 'run' the whole damn show. For all the bullshit they pull, it's their subordinates making the games . . . there isn't a creative electron in Kotick's body.

Everyone hates Activision. That's why the COD franchise was discontinued when Activision bought them. And World of Warcraft was immediately canceled when they merged with Blizzard.

Oh, wait.

When I first got Prototype from GameFly, I thought it was a great game. Easily one of the coolest opening scenes in any game ever, and once you started unlocking devastator moves, it was a blast to run around and pop hundreds of spike-tentacles (spike-acles?) out of your body in every direction. Then I started to realize that that was just about the ONLY fun part of the game. The concept of devouring people to gain their memories and discover what the hell happened to you was pretty cool, but the gameplay and story itself just started to feel really long and monotonous. If they didn't drag it out so much, it probably would have been an okay game, although very short. It kinda felt like the devs just gave up halfway through and made filler bs for the last half of the game. I was looking forward to Singularity, but since it's an Activision title, its a used-purchase at best. More than likely, I'll get it from GameFly and send it back a couple days later.

I am the last person to defend Activision, trust me. They do run the show and it does ruin things. But a lot still falls on the developer themselves. If a game sucks we can't just blame Activision. We have to blame Activision and the developer in whole. Unless guns are pointed at their heads to make a terrible game.

I do blame the dev studio and Activision, because as publish they have final say on everything.

However, the blame falls on both, I do agree with you.

Totally, I'm with you there, and that's why I do. IMO, Raven, Radical, Treyarch, Infinity Ward, Neversoft, etc . . . They are all 'Activision.' They are all subsidiaries, wholly owned, and while they are certainly deserving of blame when they make a poor product, they are still under the Activision moniker, and well, the name suits them.

As long as we all agree on the subject, all is well. As some people say it may be the "cool thing" to hate Activision, but Activision and their underlings give reason to hate them. This is why I dislike publishers with so much pull in a developer's project. They tend to take the idea to a whole other level, and not a good one.

That's why I plan to not be long under the publisher control and start up an indepent dev studio, granted they usually go belly up unless you got some amazing games, but I atleast want to try being an independent studio to have the freedom.

Nothing to do with Activision but Prototype sucked after playing inFamous, now had I done it the other way around it might have fared better.

Actually, while we're on thetopic of "mis-blame". Why does everyone blame Nintendo for their third party devs doing so poorly on making the game?

Buy that one game you don't have any interest in, and get that other game that you never wanted to play anyways for free. Cool beans, Activision may just be on to something here.

Imagine that, we're in the same boat. I 'wanted' to, but I was playing inFamous at the time, and didn't. So speak for the both of us.

As you said, more like buying Prototype and getting Singularity for free. Since I want to purchase prototype I may as well go with this offer. Can't be 2 games at $30 a piece. Even if Singularity isn't super spectacular. If it is, then surprise surprise!

WTF seriously is Activision so greedy that they can't even put their damn developers name on the cover??? WTF seriously.... I feel sorry for the boys at Raven, being a long time local company here in WI, they are really getting the shaft.

They are a great bunch of guys, but are often limited by finances. I was so looking forward for this game, but because of the whole deal with how Acitvision treats its developers I think I will pass until this situation is dealt with and the overlords are slapped where it hurts.

Don't get me wrong I want Activision to be a great company, with their current leadership however they are not.

we just had no reason to bring it up =D. I didn't particularly enjoy it and neither did the friend i gave it to, it just seemed violent for the sake of violence and i found the cut scenes to be rather low quality along with the graphics at times.

Dear Activision,

You can't make people like you by giving away free games. This will not convince me to buy another one of your shitty games. Until you learn how to treat your franchises and development studios you'll get nothing from me.

Have a nice day.

That's why you buy it, get the copy, then resell it unopened on craigslist or ebay. You could get at least $40 for an unopened copy, if retail is still $60. That's $40 off Singularity you made.

Prototype. The irony in the title alone speaks for itself. Great concept but that's exactly what that game felt like; a prototype. As a freebie the game would be worth playing for a little while. If anything you can always trade in or sell off your free copy once you've gotten bored of it (which will probably be within about an hour or two of playing it) Singularity should be pretty cool though! Can't wait to check it out!
