Hmm... I'm still not sure about this one. Can they really capture the esscence of Hayao Miyazaki's films in a game? Don't think so, especially with the hardware limitations of a DS

You must not have played the Layton games.

Trust me, it's gonna be fine.

I bet they want to release the game at the same time as the Nintendo 3DS... maybe the game will be 3DS enhanced, but will also work with the regular DS.

That probably isn't really feasible - or at least not in a very interesting way - if, as rumoured, 3DS is a completely different and much more powerful system. If that's the case, the best they could do is make a DS game with some stupid extra in-game item or something (a few GBC games did that when running on GBA, iirc).

Hand-drawn anime cutscenes aren't going to work too well in 3D, anyhow.

:(

I hate me some anime and some Jrpgs (except Pokemon and a couple of FFs,) but boy do I have a soft spot for Studio Ghibli so I've been waiting for more news on this game for a while now. I guess I should be careful what I wish for...

I don't get the obsession with the Ghibli animations personally. Looks nasty, reminds me of the old Pokemon cartoons.

Have you ever watched a Myazaki movie?
At which point was the animation not flawlessly beautiful?
Were you taking something at the time?
Are you certain your eyes were functional at the time of viewing?

-_- I thought this article was talking about a US version. Thanks for getting my hopes up, Joystiq.

Once, during an interview, Miyazaki said that games in general "are for babies", or something along those lines. I'm glad to see that he's come over the dark side. Can't wait for this.

I know Miyazaki opposes video-games and all addictive indoor activities, If you've seen his movies you know he always has a theme of the beauty of outdoors and exploring.

But Miyazaki Most likely has nothing to do with this, he is one of several directors working for Ghibli.
