For me what I didn't like about WaW was the atmosphere. COD4 was really cinematic, the level design and objectives were perfect, the characters were actually likable, and you actually felt the weapons had an impact.

Here's my take on it; COD4 had the best single player campaign, MW2 has the best multiplayer, and WaW had the best "bonus mode" with Nazi Zombies.

I agree that the MW games feel a bit more cinematic. However, I didn't really feel any urge to play them more than once. But I played through W@W's campaign at least 4 times due to co-op alone. Once by myself and then several times with different groups of friends. Not only was just playing co-op fun, the fact you could enable competitive scoring added another layer to the entertainment. The Nazi Zombies was, of course, also great co-op fun. I'll also add that while they definitely built on what IW set-up for MP, TA's MP wasn't exploited and glitched nearly as much as IW's games.

@Traceur That's weird that you say that, because I actually preferred WaW because it was less cinematic. The way guys had their legs and limbs blown off, how the russian sergeant guy ordered you to burn or shoot captured germans and everything really seemed like Treyarch was trying to drive home the seriousness of war. Then once they're done IW comes back in, takes out the gore, nukes washington DC and has some crap about victors writing history. I can't say I agree about the characters, but then again WaWs teammates weren't exactly charmers either.

@Batman: I see your point, the gore really brought some "grittyness" to it. But still, I didn't really feel immersed in the game. While playing it it felt like I was just playing a game to go for the high score, if you know what I mean.

@Vidikron: The glitches weren't as exploited? Hmm... That's why I suppose most the people on my friends list got to round like 999 on every Nazi Zombie map because there were certain spots you could stand where the zombies couldn't get you. That was one of the most glitchy games I have ever played.

I'll pass. Not worth buying a game from a company that will charge far too much for DLC. I'll buy the new Medal of Honor instead.

I'm not gonna lie ... I'm a bit disappointed that its not a Vietnam game.

I could see Treyarch doing a great job with creating a riveting and exciting Vietnam game similar to WAW.

Oh well that sucks but meh whatever, I think the main character might be ghost actually since I don't think this is a an epilogue of the game, but perhaps a prologue or side-story to MW2?

Looks at game library....Call of Duty 1-6.

Safe to say I will buy this one too. People can rip on COD all they want...I realize it's "cool" to do so now but most of us will still buy, play and love this game.

COD is simply a victim of it's own success...you get "too big" and people have to tear you down to "keep it real".

With Battlefield Bad Company 2 I"ll probably pass on Black Ops until it gets a price drop just like how I got World at War for $40 at Gamecrazy in 2009. Plus with Medal of Honor I am hoping thats good plus I have MW2 which I thought was alright. If the reviews for Black Ops are good then I'll end up getting it. World at War was good but not great but the Zombies mode made up for the game being short.

Glad Treyarch did their research and realized, unlike just about every other developer who failed to make a decent game during that time period, that the conflict reached far beyond the jungles of Vietnam. If its campaign is as good or as powerful as the one in World at War, which I felt had a stronger meaning behind it than either of the Modern Warfare titles (even if the whole game itself wasn't as good), then I'll be sure to pick it up at some point after its release.

Couldn't care less about the multiplayer, since Reach is gonna be the only MP game I'll be playing then, but I'm looking forward to seeing the campaign at least.

Is it just me or is November 9 a fairly popular release date? Halo 2 also came out on the ninth of November, and a couple others I can't quite remember did too.

Or is that just a symptom of there only being 365 days in a year?

Well I know one thing: I'd rather have Treyarch develop the game. That is if the PC version gets all of the things the W@W had.

I'm actually somewhat interested in this game. I enjoyed W@W's SP a lot better than it's multiplayer(no I did not play Nazi Zombies). I just hope that Treyarch sticks with being gritty with the material.

The one interesting thing about this is it's equal to the rumors I had heard a month or two back. If the rest of the rumors are true than they are going to bring back dedicated support for servers on PC.

Of course I'm not holding my breath for that one. Hell though, if Treyarch can deliver a solid game that doesn't have the ridiculous perks like MW2 did it might be an interesting game to check out. Again not really holding my breath for that one either though considering of all things it is Treyarch. I won't judge until it is here though.

I guess Activision really will sap this thing empty.

I would recommend that Treyarch gets a franchise to release every other year and IW gets a franchise to release every other year, but AV already did that by just changing the name to Modern Warfare instead of Call of Duty.

I would have liked to see Treyarch develop their own style instead of having to piggy off of IW.

Why on earth is everyone saying MW2 is bad?
It is by far the best COD out there and in terms of online gameplay it's one of the best currently out on xbox 360.
Also everyone reckons Nazi Zombies is so good when really you get over it fairly quickly but i do agree the Black Ops should produce a 'bonus game' similar to Nazi Zombies, because with a bit of improvement it could be an excellent addition to the campaign and online gameplay.

i'm starting to think this site is for whiny, casual gamers. black ops is the next call of duty game. i'll be buying it and playing the multiplayer for as long as it holds my attention, which is usually about 5-6 months. well worth the purchase. the vietnam/cold war setting is a dream come true. can't wait to see the weapons! i'm stoked!!!

Why are they making new maps for mw2 which I'm sure won't be cheap, but then their releasing a new CoD in September?

Haven't they made enough money out of gamers?

Is everyone gonna stop playing mw2 online and start playing black ops?

I can't keep up.
