"Capcom has put all-time shipments of Street Fighter console games at more than 28 million units worldwide, as of March 31, 2010 (so not counting the initial SSFIV shipment). The publisher did not clarify how many of those copies were upgraded re-releases of Street Fighter games."

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say at LEAST 8-10 million

Question:

I was having a discussion yesterday with sheppy... is turtling a valid technique? Because that's my fighting style, but aparently some people don't like it.

I think skill is required to be a good turtler.

It's not fun to play against, but it's a legit tactic. Some characters HAVE to turtle to win like Honda and Guile. They can be played offensively too don't get me wrong, but that's not the most effective way to use them.

As far as skill goes, I'd say it takes less skill to be a good turtle player as opposed to keeping up a good mix-up game and high damaging combos. But again, it's still a legit tactic.

I really think, as in most games, the people who complain about it are the ones who can't come up with an effective way to deal with it.

It's like the same people who complain about the people who just spam the same moves over and over again. If they're doing the same thing again and again, and you can't figure out how to deal with that kind of predictability, then that's on you, not them.

Otherwise, I say.. play the game how you like to play it.

"Turtling", to me, is definitely an acceptable tactic. It's not always about pure offense.

Any tactic that allows you to beat the competition without exploiting glitches/cheats is a legit tactic.

Turtling is actually more complex than rushing because you have to truly know how to block and counter all attacks rather than simply memorizing a few motions and repeating them.

turtling is fine, but its good to learn other styles in case turtling is not working and you need to mix it up.

Let's have one MORE version next year! :D

I'm such a sucker, I love SF and I just keep buying it and buying it. What I really want is 3rd Strike for PSN/XBLA. HD Remix or not, I just want it playable online.

Yeah, I really love the 3rd strike gameplay but I hated the characters. It would make a nice addition to PSN/XBLA.

YES! YES! A thousand times YES! 3rd strike is my absolute favorite SF ever and I've been playing since I was about 10 (I'm 28). Won a local tournament with about 20 players. SSFIV is now my 2nd favorite and 3rd strike would compliment my torunament stick nicely. Long live the parry.

I ordered a copy of this last week, and now I can't find a PS3 in stores anywhere to play it on! Last year you could build a dam out of PS3 boxes in stores and now when I actually want one, nowhere to be found.

I was at my local Gamestop the other day and I hear the manager telling one of the customers that the PS3 version of SSFIV were selling like hot cakes and they were sold out in a day, but apparently they still had plenty of the Xbox versions left. The manager speculates that maybe PS3 was a better platform for fighting games? I'm not sure, just throwing it out there.

yeah, i was raised on a d-pad (i never played fighting games in arcades), so i need one to play. The dualshock has that. The 360 pad has one of the worst d-pads ever. That thing always does me in when I play Left 4 Dead and have to take pills to run from a tank.

if you are going to be using the D-pad with the standard controller, the PS3 is definately the best for fighting games. However, I have an arcade joystick for both consoles which in my opinion is the only way to play Street Fighter. I find the level of competition the same on both consoles. I pretty much just play on the system that my friends are on.

For training, I like playing on 360 because I like how the 360 integrates my own music as the background music.

Actually, I play it better on the crappy and shitty Xbox 360 pad. I just can't stand the PS3 pad for all it's worth! Way too stiff for my liking. I guess I've gotten too accustomed to the pancake sliding D-pad on the 360, eh?

Apparently the newer Xbox pad I recently purchased plays better the the one I got with my Elite- somehow, I know- it's odd, but there it is.

The PS3 version is not better than the 360. It is used in most large tournaments because of the way the framework of swapping out controllers on the PS3 (it's easier to do than on the 360). At large competitions like EVO, where there are hundreds of matches on each PS3, the ability to switch out joysticks/pads on the fly is essential for scheduling purposes.

Most local/smaller competitions tend to prefer 360 because that is what most people have at home (and thus, their joysticks/pads are able to be used).

While you sound like a troll, the truth is that the 360 has a terrible, terrible d-pad. This is a non-issue if you have arcade sticks, but most people don't. I don't understand why MS doesn't release a better controller :- (

I own all 3 systems, and honestly the PS3 is my preferred fighting game platform.

Fun fact. 360 Version is 1080p and PS3 is 720p, but yea if you're playing with the controller PS3 ftw! If you have a stick either one.

Depends on who you ask. Some popular characters/attacks were nerfed while others were powered up. It's best to just think of it as a completely new game.

Australia, my friend, is a land of incompetence! At times it does seem like an undeveloped nation- especially for a first world country.

We've still got that whole nightmarish ordeal with the gaming legislation to wade through. And on top of that they want to introduce a filter to filter all internet services in the whole of Australia. Hoorah!

Well, at least our girls are gorgeous, and easy! ;) Can't complain too much!

Im surprised i havent really seen many people complain about this. I guess its just me

So even with Capcom sending out that many copies GameStop still can't sell the game to some schmoe who walks in. They still give them the "Did you pre-order it? Well, then I can't sell it to you." I get the whole pre-order thing, but they should really have a few out so the average citizen can pick one up. If not, then next time they'll most likely shop elsewhere.

Also, is it my eyes, or is the camera zoomed out a smidge more in SSFIV?
