Ilomilo adorably (and exclusively) heading to XBLA

Southend Interactive, developer of Lode Runner and R-Type on Xbox Live Arcade, recently announced plans to bring adorable puzzler Ilomilo to Microsoft's digital platform as an "exclusive." The game stars Ilo and Milo, two miniaturized Teletubby-looking creatures exploring "surrealistic and ever changing" environments, forever questing to be reunited.

The game's first trailer (seen above) has the pair traversing worlds that evoke Echochrome, only with, well, gobs more color (not to mention tons more charm). No release window is given for the title, but when it does eventually come out, friends can join up online to control one character each and take on the game's four worlds cooperatively. Apparently Ilomilo will also feature "famous cameos from other games" hidden within each level, though given Southend's past titles (based on other companies' IP), we can't possibly imagine what that could mean. Will we find an Arrowhead space ship somewhere in the game? The future is unknown, folks. For now, get your "DAWWWWWW"s ready and check out the smattering of Ilomilo media above and below.

It looks like a decent puzzler, love the atmosphere.
And my 8 year old cousin is coming over more regularly, he can only play demos and Splosion man because my 30+ games are all mature. Unless he wants to play Forza, and trust me - he doesn't.

Why don't you pick up a few bargain bin games for 5 - 10 bucks a piece in the mean time? This game probably isn't going to be out for a couple more months at least.

Better yet, bring him along with you and have him pick out one or two. Stop for ice cream on the way home.

it's probably because of the change of perspectives, but it kinda of reminds me of Fez (which really needs to come out!)

Really nice puzzle game, with a unique concept, plus it's got a really cool art style!

The graphic style has a LBP vibe going.

I was just thinking of that, especially the depth of field/miniaturized look of the background objects.

Also, the music used in the trailer seems similar to something you'd find in LBP.

I thought so too. I bought LBP on launch and ended up hating it. The visual style, however, drew me in. Hopefully this game appeals to me on both accounts (visual style and gameplay).

the first screen shot I saw of this game reminded me of the old Saturn game "Bug!"

Game looks cute, though...I like the tilt-shifty visuals, and the mechanics seem fun. I doubt it'll make its way across platforms, but still seems cool.

It seems like XBLA keeps getting really interesting games. Its gonna be hard for the other consoles to compete.

Looks like a cross between Crush and Echochrome to me, with a look of LBP.

I'll definitely buy this. Wish this were coming to the PSN too though.
