Internet paperwork bloodhound Superannuation has sniffed out several Red Faction–based domain name registrations by THQ. A series of domains corresponding to would-be titles in "Red Faction Armageddon" and "Red Faction Origins" have been secured by the publisher.
These two potential Red Faction projects would appear to correspond with the current plan for the franchise, which sees SyFy producing a "back-door pilot" for TV (Origins, maybe?) and the next installment of the game series planned for March 2011 (why not Armageddon?). Of course, these things are never so neatly tied together, are they? There are numerous possibilities for the two Red Faction titles used in the new domain registrations.
Anyway, have you played Guerrilla yet? It's a really fun game, we swear.

I'm always surprised to hear that some people haven't played Guerilla. I bought it for $60 when it came out and it was worth it. It's one of the most fun sandbox games I've played in a while.

I wouldn't be surrpised if we start seeing copies of Red Faction: Guerrilla in cereal boxes, soon!

Every ounce of this announcement might as well be considered to be coming out of a PR firm. Oh let's test the waters to see how viable this franchise is...
Just looked over the wikipedia entry for the franchise... and I don't see this franchise as having legs. I mean did Guerilla make any money?

Oh look the OP image changed. Yeah this isn't a PR paid for news article. :-)
I am going to be honest, I thought Red Faction had some potential. But it was wasted. There was no terraforming plot. No flying vehicles and taking down buildings was too hard. I could have made this game better with just an editors eye.
Terraforming.
Sky tether.
Underground locations.
Interesting enemy character models.
Worthwhile guns.
Cooler looking explosions.

I don't know how the game performed financially. But the registration of these domains and talk of a TV movie would seem to indicate it was successful.
Guerrilla wasn't a perfect game, no, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. For one, I didn't have any trouble taking down buildings and thought the guns were fine. Of course, I'll always welcome a wider selection of guns. How much did you play? Once you get access to rocket launchers and the nano rifle it's pretty easy to take down structures.
I'm curious what you mean by a terraforming plot? You wanted part of the story line to directly tie into the terraforming of Mars?

I just noticed that "Origins" and "Armageddon" are like Alpha and Omega only in reversed alphabetical order.
I do not know how this is relevant to any of this.

Red Faction: Origins = XBLA/PSN-based Red Faction prequel, that builds up to the release of . . .
Red Faction: Armageddon = Full retail disc release Red Faction game for Xbox 360 and PS3.
It really amazes me how much editors on these blogs forget to connect the dots for gaming news reported months apart.
To wit, a little while back, THQ announced a program by which they intended to release full-blown, smaller portioned, downloadable 'prequels' to some of their hottest franchises moving forward, in an effort to help build up excitement and test the waters for full releases of those same franchises, that would follow shortly after. Think of the program as getting the first fully playable, standalone DLC pak (no disc required), before the game actually shipped. Capcom is currently doing the same with Dead Rising 2, by releasing Dead Rising: CASE ZERO to XBLA this summer. THQ never actually mentioned franchises, but with the company slated to release a new Red Faction, and Saints Row 3 in 2011, it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what goes where.
Armed with the above knowledge, and looking at the names of the two newly registered Red Faction IPs, one can logically draw the conclusion that one game is XBLA/PSN 'prequel' and the other is the Xbox 360/PS3 full retail game. And with the Origins of something usually happening before the Armageddon of it . . . well, I think I'm not the only one who can add 2 and 2 here.

Things this game is going to need;
That ground manipulation from Fracture.
sticky mines that actually take out a beam in one BEAUTIFUL explosion
Multiple female interests.
RPG elements
Cooler- mechs, cars, planes, bikes, suits, rocket packs
A space tether get's charges planted on the way up and detonated while we are on board the tethered satellite.
Nano guns that shoot different colors as you upgrade it. Red, gold, lighting starlight blue.
Buildings on fire that take damage as they burn.
Actually EPIC high rises in a city. You can make it a four building space with invisible walls around it, but make it high and let me dig through it and take it all down. And let me come in through a underground tunnel into a foundation that is SUPER deep underground.
Genetically augmented animals for the Martian environment.
Answers to how Mars' light gravity is keeping oxygen on it. There is a reason Mars has a light atmosphere. We're smarter now.
Seriously you should just hire me. I am not even an expert but I am poor enough to know what matters and what does not...
No cybernetics, no space ships, no nano machine super powers, no super speed or bullet time. No squad based tactics. No giant sprawling world (Though if the game can technically afford it then by all means.)
PR guys I know you are not in charge of this but you can steel my ideas and maybe pass them along.
Every time I trigger a mine it should make a mini one of these
