Wow, that sounds pretty cool.

I'd definitely be all over that when it eventually came to PSN.

^ Isn't that an XBL gamertag? Why do you care?

I'm just curious what benefit buying a game on PSN would be if you have XBLA already. Different friends that only play on PSN?

I agree!

I play my 360 more than my PS3, and I would get this on 360- but the more people that can play and enjoy this epic game concept, the better.

For the record FragnEm, I care because I only still have a Live account for 360 Exclusives, and the few friends of mine that still don't have a PS3. I've been through 4 360's all dying from short-sighted design, so I try not to put any more games on my 360 that I don't have to as that creeps it ever closer to its next death. So far I've never had to replace a PS3.

@Jerry

Well if Order of Ecclesia is any indication, 2D Castlevania is only getting better. That game was hard without being frustrating and quite beautiful to look at.

I sure hope IGA is behind this one. I haven't seen that crazy bastard in quite sometime so I would assume that means he's behind this.

I appreciated the difficulty bump in Order of Ecclesia, however, I wasn't a fan of the world map navigation. I prefer the Metroidvania style.

^ Dracula's castle was Metroidvania style in OoE, I liked it being a mix of both. Though I wish the non-metroidvania areas had more training hall elements.

Six player co-op! Hopefully the game scales appropriately for that many players. I'm intrigued.

I always used to wish there would be an MMO-type Castlevania in side-scrolling 2D form. The castle would be ridiculously huge, with players constantly crossing paths with each other where they could party up/trade items/etc.

Anyways, this sounds like a fun step in the right direction. Can't wait!

Would LOVE some drop-in/drop-out in a Metroidvania-style game. It'd be like starting a new game, but with the comfort that your friends can help out if you get stuck.

The idea kinda reminds me of Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. Obviously not a Metroidvania, but it had a sprawling map that each player could explore separately, but the game also gave the players the option to each other in for help if they needed it. It's an idea I never got to use (none of my friends really wanted to spring for the link cables), and I would love to see it done via internet (or wireless connections for the DS or whatever.)

Many years ago I saw a Flash Animation called CASTLEVANIA ONLINE on Newgrounds, it was something like that, a coop with many players.

Maybe you can find that flash somewhere on the web because it got removed from newgrounds.

Dreams do come true :D

Wow...could be awesome. Hope it is something similar to the DS/Metroidvania style games. I enjoyed the older style games and liked the WiiWare remake, but I have really built up a love for the DS style games over the past few years with their different abilities, weapons, equipment, and control (faster and just platform jumping compared to the slow walking and holding up to climb steps and such).

A bit of a stretch, but maybe. I mean, why go to all the trouble of making those fakes and then not using a standard resolution?

The fact that the big map is literally just backgrounds and rooms ripped from the DS games screams of fakery.

Now that would be more telling. Of course, these could also be concept images and not the actual game. Either way, I'm hoping there's some validity to this rumor.

IMO those were basically in the same vein as symphony of the night and aria/dawn of sorrow.

though i still enjoyed sotn the most. i don't get it why konami refuses to do a straight-up sequel considering the success of sotn. hopefully that is what harmony of despair will be.

What? No! I don't want a multiplayer Castlevania. Didn't thy learn from Castlevania Judgement?

I want another 2D Castlevania, but I guess Konami will break the 2 year Castlevania cycle and let Lords of Shadow be the game for this year.

Intrigued. I have and love all the Metroidvania games since Symphony of the Night but I am not sure about this. Going to wait and hope for more info, based on the images on NeoGaf, not feeling it. Agree with Fletcher, disappointed with a new Castlevania game on the 360 with GBA graphics.
