It looks like we finally know what the "Spartans Stand Tall" teaser site was all about. Sony has just announced God of War: Ghost of Sparta, a new PSP-exclusive game developed by Ready At Dawn Studios, the same team responsible for Chains of Olympus. "Excitement for the God of War franchise is at an all-time high and we're thrilled to continue that momentum with God of War: Ghost of Sparta," Scott A. Steinberg, vice president, product marketing, SCEA, said in a press release. "This new adventure will showcase Kratos on PSP like never before in an experience that fans and newcomers can enjoy on the go, anytime, anywhere."
Ghost of Sparta features Kratos once again, this time in an adventure that takes place after the first God of War on PS2 and delves into Kratos' rise to power. According to Sony, Ready At Dawn will utilize "state-of-the-art visual technologies" that will allow "higher quality environments and characters." In addition, Ghost of Sparta will offer "over 25% more gameplay" than its PSP predecessor, while adding more enemies on screen, and a greater number of boss encounters.
God of War: Ghost of Sparta is planned for release "later this year." We expect a lot more to be revealed at E3.

I really don't know how they can make it look better. The first one was one of the best looking games on the PSP.
Only GTpsp comes close in visual quality.

I would hope that they try to make it a different experience rather than a reduced PS2/PS3 version.
Sidescroller? Adventure game?
I dunno, but if it is just a smaller version of the console version then I have little interest

So this takes place after the first game... After the first game he is the god of war. How the heck are they going to make the game challenging? Does he catch the "god flu" and temporarily lose his powers and gain them back at the end in time for the start of GOW II only to lose them after the first five minutes of that game? I REALLY want to see them explain this one.

Yeah, after hearing that GoW3 did nothing to move Kratos forward as a character, this supposed-to-be-exciting new announcement piques no interest in me whatsoever. I love Ready At Dawn, though so I'll still play it sooner or later.

*sigh* I guess I'm buying a PSP again. Bringing my total up to 6 in four years.
I wish I could quit you, Ready At Dawn.

Maybe it would be a good idea to just... keep one of those psps?
Seems like the route I would go down for sure.

I always plan to. Then, inevitably, it sits idle for months and I convince myself nothing exclusive which I care about will come out again.

how do they quantify these things? "25% more gameplay!" what does a one gamplay look like, and how does that one get to become one and a quarter?

10 hours of gameplay... 25% of 10 is 2.5
25% MORE gameplay would be 12.5 hours...
DONE! Oh and I don't mean to say that CoO was 10 hours, that was just an example.
