If you were trying to get your Halo: Reach on last night, you probably remember that crucial point in time when it just plain stopped working. It was a dark time, to say the least, but Bungie is working hard to get things in order.
A recent post on its forums states that while you should still expect "suboptimal performance," you can at least get into some games now. While we'd certainly appreciate a fully functional beta, we're not complaining -- playing a few matches is better than playing no matches, after all.

Last night? Damn, the game the entire time since it opened the beta dl it was shifting between working and not working.
Took a bit to get into a match, played once, then got booted cause servers once available. Later on friend dls the client, then we both stuck waiting a good 30 mins before we got enough time to play one match then servers clicked off again.
And, dunno if this was simply because I'd quit during those server-off things, but my creds keep getting reset to zero every time I exited the game.

am i the only one disappointed in this game? i found the multi-player to be less fun than i remember Halo 3 being. it takes FOREVER to kill someone. you throw a grenade and beat them down then you need to unload a clip from the assault rifle.
i don't know maybe I'm just too used to MW2 or hardcore mode in BF:BC2 but i couldn't really get into it.
i did however really enjoy the higher levels of character customization.

You aren't the only one 30 minutes after playing I quit. The new weapons are cool but they STILL sound like toys. I really hope they fix that, hell just rip & remaster Halo:CEs gun effects. I hope the matchmaking system is fixed because I really want to play deathmatch and I keep ending in skull matches and othercrap.
The guns seem extremely weak just like you said, maybe it's cause they brought the health system back but I don't like it. Maybe I'm use to MW2 and even though COD games aren't my cup of tea I still had more fun playing that than I did this.

I hear you, it seems weird to be shooting someone, beat them, shoot them some more, get assassinated from ONE hit to the back and the dude I just pwned recharges his shields and scampers off.
They need to either make it so one hit to the back doesn't kill you, tweak weapon power or tweak the frontal melee. Also, that shield armor perk seems like BS to me. I was calmly waiting behind some dude who turned that on and then he came out of it facing me and killed me. WHAT?!? When that BS ends and I melee him from behind he should be kilt dead!
I enjoy it though. It feels fresher than Halo 3. I think it feels faster (especially with the armor sprint).

The new AR feels seriously underpowered, beyond point-blank range it's a whole mag to kill, basically always leaving you vulnerable after a kill. The melee system is a pain too; it does no health damage before you pop the shields, so I've been constantly getting into lame 'bobbing back and forth' melee battles. So far, not a big fan :S

Took about 9 hours to download and about 5 minutes of playing to remind me why I stopped playing Halo in the first place.
Yeah, maybe I just suck at it, but a grenade at their feet, an entire magazine of rounds in their face followed by a punch and I get get dropped with a melee?
Whateverrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

@bravo it's just how the game works. if you want a game where 3 bullets kills you, go play CoD. i like how halo works because it adds an additional level of strategy to the game; there's just enough time in a firefight with someone to move around, take cover, toss a grenade etc. in CoD fights are over far too quickly for that; it's very much a twitch shooter. some people prefer that and that's fine, i just like Halo for what it is.

I love all the people in the forums yesterday that said Bungie owed them compesation because the beta that they didn't pay anything for wasn't working. The best people are the ones that took off work just to play.

Most people seem confused by the very concept of a beta.

Yes the main complaint so far is how long it takes to kills someone.I know people will say "oh you just suck" but whats the fun of playing the game when it takes for ever to get a kill. I'm not saying one shot kills but it needs to be toned down a little.

I started downloading it at 7:30. When I went to bed at 11 it was at 47%. I know my DSL isn't the best, but I thought a gig would go faster than that. Oh well. It was finished when I got out of bed this morning, and I can't wait to play it for a while tonight.

yeah, i do remember that downloading the thing took forever, though. i was gone for most of the time it was downloading, but i think it took around 2-3 hours, and my school has a pretty fast connection.

I have still yet to get into a game. I've tried for about an hour, both today and yesterday, let it sit there in the lobby and it just said something along the lines of "Playlist download pending..." Pretty upset, and baffled, that they have not found some way to let everyone play a smooth game of free for all yet. To all those saying that no one payed to play the beta, well what about those of us (like myself) who payed for ODST? That was hardly a full game, so I considered the invitation to the Reach beta to be the extra (unnecessary) 20 bucks on the price tag.
