There are some promising releases bookending May, like Lost Planet 2 and Modnation Racers, but the show stopper has to be May 18, which will mark the arrival of a ton of heavy hitters like Alan Wake, Red Dead Redemption and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. Oh, and let's not forget the return of Planet Earth's favorite plumber.

Well, it's something to shoot for (puns, ugh.) Wouldn't that make a great pull-quote for the box though:
"The first Western game to be rated 'ten exclamation points' good!"

"Are old west games ever really that good?" Come on, that's not being fair. How many Wild West games have their even been? In the past ten years there's been what? Call of Juarez 1 and 2, Red Dead 1 and 2, and Gun. The genre hasn't even really had a chance, and even if it had, who says an entire genre is bad versus individual games?

@ Dark Wayne - Don't forget Oregon Trail!
I'm not trying to be a sourpuss. I think those examples are plenty, especially if they've all come in the last 2 generations. Sure, it's not as common as bald space marines, but enough to say "hmm, is this one really going to do anything to be much better?"

I can't buy anything until early july either, but fora different reason.
It really pisses me off since SMG2 was going to be my first Wii purchase (I've had one for a while but it's more of a family thing for Wii Fit etc) and ModNation Racers was great in the Beta (Technical Issues aside).
I might get Red Dead Redemption but I'll wait for a verdict.

FYI - Amazon is offering $20 game credit for red dead redemption pre-orders. I am tempted to buy it even though I just dropped a ton of cash and have alan wake coming on the same release day. Can't wait for wake.

Even though both games have suffered numerous delays, I've grown to trust both Rockstar and Remedy over the years. I think they're both going to be pretty solid genre games so I think it just comes down to a matter of personal taste.

Only one game for PC this month... Disappointing.

You are HIGHLY mistaken. The PC is an inherently open gaming platform, and unlike the consoles releases can be difficult(at best) to keep track of. This month brings a new episode of Sam and Max Season Three, Black Mirror 2, Darkness Within 2, Heroes of Might and Magic Online, and likely a host of indie projects that are difficult/impossible to predict or follow. And don't forget that The Whispered World came out late last month, and Alpha Protocol is coming out next month.

Thanks for notifing me. I wasn't aware of those games. I have always trusted that Joystiq lists all games in their "New-games-this-month"-lists.
However, none of those games appeals to me tho, except maybe Alpha Protocol and Sam and Max episodes. I'm still wondering if I should play the series or not.

The Penal Zone has a demo for PC and Mac here, if you want to give it a try: http://www.telltalegames.com/store/samandmax-thedevilsplayhouse
Also, if you're interested in RPGs, Eschalon: Book II comes out next month, and if you're interested in puzzle games, Steam recently released The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom.

RDR, MNR and Split Second are must haves for me but I will be trying out Alan Wake too. I know I shouldn't be buying 2 racing games but they are both hella fun and they will be something my girl and my lil sis can play too. If I happen to like AW, I'll prolly buy that too. I'm glad there's only 1 game that intrigues me in the months of June and July and they are both football games (hint) so I won't be buying both. Depending how the new iPhone is, my wallet should be able to recover from this month til late Aug/early Sep. Let's just hope E3 doesn't have any surprises.... Yeah right, Bring it on!
Man I love gaming!!!
