It's not clear whether the other Mr. Mario is playable from the get-go -- in the first Super Mario Galaxy, Luigi only became playable after collecting all 120 stars -- but he will clearly be a character that players can control. If you haven't played the first game and you plan on buying this one you are in big trouble. This game as far as level of difficulty is going to pick up where that lats game left off and let me tell you, I personally don't EVER want to go through THAT again. And I mean by getting all 120 stars. You can beat the game with 60, but it's not beaten properly unless you get all 120.

Sarcasm goes a far way!
You won't be missing out a ton, but it might be more enjoyable if you play both.

The game is all new; it doesn't repeat any of the levels of the existing one. Play the first one right now, it's great.
(You probably won't finish it before the second comes out, but so? You can always play that later. And it probably makes slightly more sense to play them in order as, though I don't really believe the hype about it being super-difficult, the second definitely seems to add more different complexities/play styles/etc.)

IT'S-A MEEEE!
Looks nice, I don't think I will buy this game at day one because of the "May gaming extravaganza" like 3 cool games coming out this month ... Red Dead Redemption, Alan Wake, Mario Galaxy 2, but I will buy this game, it's Mario! how can you not like him?

What? Have you ever seen a N64 game or are you just trollin'?

Super Mario 64's what..10-12 years old and not much has changed graphically. The game might be fun and all but Nintendo could step it up a bit in the visual department.

If that's what a N64 game looks like to you, I really want to know what games you've been playing. They must have been awesome!!!

I'm confused... the original Xbox did have better graphics than the Gamecube

not trolling, i'm simply stating that the graphics haven't really improved on mario games since the N64. I realize that there needs to be a certain amount of Mario-esque visual style, but really they're pretty bland compared to what they could be.

You should see your optometrist immediately.
Poor vision can lead to problems later in life as you get older, such as glaucoma, increased susceptibility to viruses such as pink eye and even vision impairment that can effect your ability to legally drive!

I think that What Kid Icarus REALLY wants is a realistic Mario, with real hair dynamics, and stuff. Something along the lines of this: http://www.geekologie.com/2008/03/17/real-mario-face.jpg

Lol Metal Muse. Ignorace in bliss isn't it? The Metroid Prime games were graphically superior to the Halo games, and Twilight Princess looked far better than Fable. The GC was graphically superior to the Wii, the problem was games made for both looked better on Xbox due to the ridiculously high compression needed to fit a game on the Gamecubes 1.8gb mini-dvd disk.

Does anyone else think this music sounds like Star Fox music? Maybe recycled from some cancelled star fox game.

I seriously cannot wait for this. Joy!
Also, I'm still waiting for Luigi's Haunted Mansion 2. Seriously, where is it? The Wii controls would be perfect for it.

With him being selectable without 120 stars and with the 240 stars confirmed and the slider/running part .... the infamous sonic rumor is actualy getting way too much signs of not being that impossible
