Me too, but it's going to have to wait until I'm done with Red Dead Redemption, and that might be a while.

Yup, I think I'm sold on it finally. I was being cautious about being optimistic, but it sounds good and the shorts they released are fun to watch.

Alan Wake, Heavy Rain and Final Fantasy XIII all teased us in 2006. Now it's 2010, and they've all been finally released, within months of each other.

I feel like there's no much else to look forward to anymore :-(

cheer up elranzer. Red dead redemption, Fallout:New Vegas, and more depending on what consoles you have are sure to be good. Its just a shame there aren't any cool original IPs being released anytime after May this year.

You gotta be joking me. SC2 is amazing....

Yeah the core of the game is the same, but that is what the fan base wanted.

Anyway, looking forward to Alan Wake as well. Your review made it sound promising, Rich. I hope you are right.

My thoughts four years ago: Wow, this looks like it might be an interesting and unique game.

My thoughts now: What happen? Someone set up us the appeal to mass market.

You can hardly expect a game developer to spend four years and millions of dollars making a game and NOT want it to appeal to the mass market. That said, "interesting and unique" and "commercially viable" are not mutually exclusive. It may very well be both, and hats off to any developer who pulls off such a thing. I reserve judgement of the game until I play it though.

Based on the way it was hyped up, I would have thought this game would pull in a 95+ rating on metacritic; right now, it's at about an 84. Still, premise looks good, and it's from remedy, so I'll still give it a try. Joystiq review doesn't hurt either.

It's still early but metacritic sucks anyway. There are only a few sites or publications I put any stock into.

Well it depends how you use metacritic. It aggregates many scores but also lists the main idea from each review and links to the reviews. You have to learn to look at those instead of just looking at the number. Which, of course, many people don't do.

A couple months ago and I wouldn't even think about it. But right now I'm almost done AC2 so I may pick this up next. I'm intrigued anyways.

I agree... a few years ago, this looked promising. Even though I don't have a 360, I was planning on playing it with/at a friend's house, as I do most of those must play 360 titles - which are too few and far in between for me to own the system.

But recently, this just looks meh. I'll take Heavy Rain, instead, please.

I bought a 360 for the same reason. Not that a metacritic score is everything (it most certainly isn't) but I just thought this would be better, getting really rave reviews. While Conviction was solid, it didn't live up to its potential either, leaving me dissapointed. Hopefully Reach/GOW 3 will be the games worth the admission price.

@Winterfang, who are you to judge Heavy Rain? You're a self proclaimed 360 fanboy so if you hate those black boxes so much, how would you know how it is? By the way it's quite good.

Heavy Rains biggest problem was the controls. The story was awesome but for me the controls really hurt the game.
From what the review said, the game is awesome. Richard never said GOTY, but he obviously enjoyed himself and that's what matters. I know I'll be playing it for sure.

The only part of the Heavy Rain controls I hated was holding down a button to walk. Is it really that hard making it so I can push a stick?

Also, HR is nothing like Fahrenheit (aka Indigo Prophecy). HR is entirely reality grounded, no demons and stuff, just a great thriller with a genuinely surprising ending.

Why/how are you guys even comparing this to Heavy Rain? They are completely different games!

@Jesus: You bought a 360 just for this game, which you haven't played, but are already disappointed in and are feeling letdown by your purchase?! You do know that there are LOTS of older games that you can buy, right? You don't have to just buy new games from this day on.

Everyone is stupid except me.

@uncle jesse

Alan Wake and Conviction pushed me over the edge. I have played teh Haloz, teh Gears, teh Forzas and Crackdown as well as the xbla standouts like Trials and SC. Like I said, I haven't judged it yet, I just thought it would be getting glowing reviews everywhere. Of course I'll still get it and play it. But I've had a ps3 from year one and I was hoping the 360 could offer me a truly amazing game that wasn't on ps3. 3rd person action games is my favourite genre so I am dissapointed.

Note* Mass Effects are voids because I can play them on PC if I wanted to.

Wow... I got 360 fanboy downvoted for having an opinion? Nice.

To sum it up, the looks of MS' counter to Heavy Rain, Alan Wake, looks lackluster to me. Opinion? OMG downvote him!

But in all seriousness, you want to talk about HR recycling things from Indigo Prophecy? Alan Wake is about a writer who's wife goes missing and he battles paranormal beings, with a flashlight, in an effort to find her... I've seen that in Alone in the Dark (PS3/360).

And, yes... AW and HR can be compared. They're both heavily story driven titles that revolve around mysteries involving conspiracy, character development and investigation.

I'm assuming that once you play through the story there isn't much motivation to go through it again, but I do believe that they are going to be releasing more chapters that you'll be able to download.

There are certain manuscript pages that can only be collected in Nightmare mode, which only unlocks after beating the game for the first time.

There's also DLC on the way, which I can't wait to play.

Seriously. It took them 5+ years to make a 10 hour game. how much do you want to bet they somehow are going too be able to put out hour long dlc every two to three months for the remainder of the year. This just doesn't make sense.

How do you know it is a 10 hour game? I didn't see that mentioned above? A game is as long as YOU, the individual, want it to be. If you rush thru and ignore the scenery you may be in for a 10 hour game, if you take your time and partake in everything the game has to offer it will last a lot longer.
