Spineshanks' 'Beginning Of The End' fits pretty good in this Activision / IW thingy..:

The irritation we're pretending not to show
Has replaced the motivation
That i had not long ago

It's the beginning of the end
And I don't know where we lost control
It's the beginning of the end
And I know that I am all alone

Interrogation has replaced the trust we had
Your misguided accusations
helping me to turn my back

I wonder what Kotick thinks of me buying the 'Stimulus Map Pack' and sharing it with 4 of my friends?? That equates to $3 per person. =P

Hopefully, the rest of gamers won't lie on their backs and accept the digital move like the CoD players have. $15 for a map pack? Really?

No it includes all other Call of Duty games. I don't even think ps3/360 even sold that many copies of Modern Warfare 2 combined.

I'm sure MW2 will end up being a large percentage of that number by the time Black Ops comes out but I'd say right now, World at War is probably the biggest part of that due to its three hugely popular packs.

No, 14mil copies of MW2 sold with the 360 and PS3 being the prime sellers, with 360 selling more then PS3.

I laugh at the fukcing tools who bought this. $15 for a map pack? Hope you continue to enjoy having your extra content fed to you at that price, because if that number is any indication, this is something you can get used to.

I bought fat princess for $15 and that gave me $4 hours of mediocre gameplay. I spent $10 on numerous crappy PSN games that gave me about 3 hours of mediocre enjoyment.

this map pack has been out for a couple of days and I've already played it more than I've played most full, $60 retail games.

let it be known, If any other company wants to offer me something that I will enjoy for 100+ hours I will gladly pay $15.

I love how alot of you guys are bashing people who bought the maps. I'm sorry $15 dollars is such a big deal to you that you're still bitching about something you don't/didn't have to buy.

It is a big deal do the fact that soon $15 will become the norm for map packs. Just like when people complained about buying map packs. They knew that if enough people bought map packs they'd cost money from everyone, and now they do.

And the smart ones didn't. Doesn't mean we didn't want the content, and doesn't mean we wouldnt have paid for it at a more reasonable price.

That's OK, I went back to playing Halo, and now Reach. No nukes. =)

Its mw2, No other game would charge that amount of money for a map pack and get away with it other than Halo and gow for 360 at least. You didn't have to buy it, you didn't have to play it. I bought the maps cause i wanted to play them. Fifteen dollars for something I can play as much as i want really isn't that bad. I've spent much more on much worse.

Do they really think the sub-par developer that is Treyarch is going to get as much success as MW2 did? They'll be lucky if it did well...and with IW gone, I don't think they're going to make as much on MW3

the worst part aside from the 2x pricetag is that alot of us, if we go back to the game, will have to cough up this amount unless we really like getting disconnected from our online friends every couple of rounds.

plus soon xbla games will soon be 15 norm. Then activision will charge 20 for the next pack and xbla games will 20 for the norm and $15! Will the the new $10. Won't be long b4 xbla is jus as expensive as retail and the publishers will making more cause they don't have to packaging. So much for saving on digital content. Especially if regular games come out on xblm. I have seen thee future....shit

I agree. There are too many competing (and, arguably, similar) titles as well as other great games arriving at the end of the year. Regardless of people's feelings of CoD vs Halo, I am a fan of both, and know that a lot of my friends will be playing Reach, MoH, and other games and taking a break from CoD:BO. If Activision makes CoD into a yearly thing like they say they will, people's interest in the franchise is going to wane. There was so much built-up demand for MW2 after the greatness of CoD4. There is no such built-in demand for CoD:BO. I will bet money that sales won't be as "successful" as MW2.

The $15 price tag on the DLC was a deal breaker for me, and ive actually found myself playing less and less COD. Way to many cheaters, and it got pretty boring fast. Cant wait for Red dead redemption :]

Everyone here seems to be missing the real issue in this article: the brick and mortar retail chains are still powerful enough that Kotick has to kiss their rings whenever he talks about digital distribution being a success, in spite of his position at one of the biggest entertaiment companies. *They* are the ones keeping game prices inflated and street dates tied to shipping boxes to warehouses.

My only question is how long do they think people are willing to wait for the 2nd map pack? Both should have been out by now. Black ops releases in November, if they release the next MW2 pack around then they're crazy!

Hmm if he's saying life-to-date and not just talking about mw2, perhaps mw2 map pack didn't sell as amazingly well as they had hoped? Did this include the PC downloads? or just exclude PSN?

$15 is a little too much for these maps. COD4 and WaW was only $10 why the $5 jump? I paid $15 for Battlefield 1943 and I got more than just maps, I got a FULL GAME! So... its greedy people like this that help flush our economy down the toilet
