Get stoked for 'My Fireplace' on Wii

Those fireplace DVDs are alright for creating a mood (specifically, the mood of wishing you had a fireplace) but they aren't very ... interactive, you know? That fire just sits there on the screen, faux-smoldering forever in an endless loop of artificial atmosphere. Wouldn't it be perfect if that were a game?

Korner Entertainment S.L. thinks so. The ESRB just logged a rating for "My Fireplace," a Wii game (a WiiWare game, we hope) "in which players can tend to a virtual fireplace. Players can add logs to the fire, add decorations to the mantle, and pump air into the fireplace to keep the flames burning."

This sounds like a hot property, but with nothing but an ESRB content description to go on, we can't shed any light on details like release date or price.

Don't you wish you had a Wii, now?

I don't even want to emulate this on my PC.

Need this for my Macbook. It already gets burning hot, so it would truly be an authentic "fireplace tending" experience.

I think Wii are better than this.

any news on a PC port?? if not, then it's still a day one purchase for me!

Wii graphics just don't do fire justice. Though I will miss motion controls when it comes time to tend to the coals.

I can see this catching on. The Chores genre has been seriously underrepresented this generation. Perhaps if this does well enough we'll get: "My Front Lawn Needs Mowing", "Those Dishes Won't do Themselves", and "This Bed is a Mess!"

I just realized all three of those sound sexual.

If only there was a way to combine all those mundane tasks into one game. Even require you to eat, use the restroom, go to work, every boring thing you play video games to get away from. You could design and decorate your own house and fill it with people who you have to do every little thing for or they whine about it. It'd be awesomely tedious.

Most of those games sound like they all eventually lead to the "Domestic Violence" minigame...also on this list will be games like:

Hudson's "My Aquarium" is basically the same thing, and has done quite well for itself, even as a WiiWare title, so this is not without precedent for success.

We get it, you love Nintendo but how could you defend this? Even Sony fanboys don't defend Lair.

I don't think he's defending; I think we're all just metaphysically blinking away the flash from the blast by talking ourselves through this.

There is a precedent, though, so that hurts. The scary thing is, I bet there were people that bought Ninjabread Man for the sake of owning the worst Wii game.

Not defending, merely explaining. People scratch their heads and ask why, it's because this sort of thing has succeeded before.

uhhhhh no thanks....around Christmas TWC and other cable companies put up a fireplace on-demand channel.....sure it doesn't let me control the flames or add wood(giggity)...but its at no added cost....why buy a fireplace game?

Maybe.. maybe if you had a fetish where you got off on making poor choices? Then buying this game would be REALLY enticing.

We used that channel last Christmas and its good to fall asleep to.

Sad thing is when you have that on in one room and the real thing burning in the other room.

I like running the HD fireplace on Christmas morning. :-)

Sir. I would like to point out that the Wii is incapable of producing HD visuals. For many, HD is at least 720P. The Wii is capable of 480P, but that may not be enough to truly replicate a fireplace.

Where did I mention the Wii running HD?

Gotta admit I bought the fishtank screensaver for PS3. :o)

Yay! As an added bonus the power plant that generates the electricity to power your Wii and TV will put out the same amount of greenhouse gasses as a real fireplace!
