Rather than blast our senses with copious amounts of explosions and military bravado, this new Medal of Honor trailer opts for a more muted approach: a soldier calling home to convince his wife and daughter that everything is going to be okay.
Medal of Honor will be released this October.

this trailer is strait out of the film Black Hawk Down, when Randy Shughart called his wife and left a message before they deployed into Mogadishu.
the dialog is a little different, but the concept was pulled strait out of the movie.
not that there is anything wrong with using it.
I just hope there enough dynamic stuff in there, and that its not just going to be a scripted game like cod.

MoH shouldn't be so scared of being outsold by CoD as long as they release it a month or so before CoD, and advertise the heck out of it.
That will probably have a huge impact on CoD sales.
And if MoH releases one month before CoD I will buy MoH, and skip CoD. But if CoD releases before MoH, I will buy them both. I kinda hope MoH gets released earlier, for the sake of my wallet.

This game is going to great, I heard something about Battlefield's team working on this game over a year ago... Will it be better than Modern Warfare 2?!

The video looks like it was encoded from 60fps source material. I hope that means they'll be targeting that in-game.

Seriously? There's a lot of love for that trailer I see. It seemed pretty generic. A guy with the perfect life, a loving wife, and young daughter at home while he's off fighting in some hell?! It's so cliche. I hope he gets a "Dear John" letter early in the game and then all hell breaks loose on both fronts. It's war, not a Hallmark movie or a Green Day video.

That's stupid, and you're stupid for saying it. Get over yourself, emo kid.

I attacked the trailer, not the individuals who enjoyed the trailer and yet you come out and attack me for having an opinion just like everyone else? Maybe you should get over yourself for thinking everyone must think and agree with you. I didn't like the trailer.

Jesus man do you have a heart?
You must be one of those people who don't give a damn as long as you have a nice game with pretty graphics and a nice multiplayer mode where you can "beat noobs"

In all seriousness, I'm confused as to how much hate CoD has been given. Most everyone used to love it, now I only see hate for it. I thought it had great intense missions, great environments with awesome sets/set pieces. The story may have been a little awkward but I personally don't play games like that for the story and even if I did, I don't it warrants the hate brought on to it. What failed about Modern Warfare? (serious question)

I think it's a few issues. 1) Activision has been wicked and pissed a lot of gamers off, 2) The game got too popular and thus created a polarizing affect for many past supporters and those of us into gaming enough to discuss it daily, 3) The mega MW fans began acting like it made them the best gamers in the universe to play and thus many said screw this group. Mostly though - its the first thing.
I enjoyed the games, a lot actually, but it didn't become a franchise that I worshiped or thought was better than anything else. There is a much larger gaming world to explore. Plus, MoH was the shit back in the beginning and it has some nostalgia for me that makes me wish for its success.

It just got too popular, and everyone has to hate the most popular thing. Before MW was the cool thing because it wasn't Halo, but then it got too big and something else (BC2) has to be the cool thing because it's not MW. Soon, everyone will hate Bad Company if it continues to get more popular.
There's a little hipster in everyone.

I'm not being a hypocrite here, I just never liked Call of Duty. But then when it got really overblown and people were like "ZOMG ITS THE BEST THING EVER ITS ONLINEZ IS SO GOOD!!1!!! I really started to hate it. It's mostly the annoying as hell fanbase for me that turns me off. I mean, I might have a good time if everyone wasn't a douchebag tho thinks they're the best ever and that CoD is the best thing ever, when really they're not and it's not.
I do respect what they did with the first Modern Warfare, however. War games hadn't really been done before like that. With the second game, however, it was obvious that they were just milking the cash cow rather than going for something great. I don't own it, but watching my roomie play it, it was more like an over the top action film than any sort of realistic portrayal of modern warfare.

To be fair, though, the people who constantly talk like CoD is the single worst game ever are pretty damn annoying too. I enjoy MW2 personally, but every time I even mention it offhand one of my friends feels the need to explain to me that the game is in fact a steaming pile of shit. People have the right to their opinions, sure, but stuff like that gets old fast.
I agree that the first MW did the campaign better, but #2 was still plenty of fun, and a good game in it's own right.

Man, That was an excellent trailer. I was being a skeptic when this was first announced, but I think EA can pull this off.

an intriguing trailer. I can't wait to see more. I hope this game is intense, mature and dark, but not trying to be shocking just for the sake of being shocking - I'm talking about No Russian, a dark and intense scene that is laughable in the context of the rest of the cheesiness of MW2's "story".

A bit cheesy, but tastefully done. Good job EA. I tip my hat on this one. And as an aside, I sure as shit wouldn't expect to see the next Call of Duty: Something or Another have a trailer like this.

I'm sure the game will be great... but what's up with all the character's faces in this video? All their eyes and noses look the same. I haven't really noticed weird-looking faces on characters in a while.

I'm sick of over dramatized war games(Brothers in Arms). I'd rather see some gameplay, and I hope this game focuses more on tactics and solid FPS mechanics then trying to "recreate" modern war with cheesy lines and stereotypical battle sequences.

Actually, compare this trailer to the opening scene in Saving Private Ryan. Now replace landing craft with helo's.
Remember, you don't want to be the first one out the door.

That was amazing. Totally amazing. Blows the CoD Black Ops trailer out of the water. If they can manage to retain that mood, it's going to be one heck of a ride.

Color me impressed. It's about time that a game in this FPS genre infused more RPG inspired character development. Wouldn't it be awesome to to have the character depth from Mass Effect 2 in a MoH shooter?

The reason why this trailer impressed me, is the fact that it isn't afraid to dig into that emotional side of a soldier's whereabouts, doings, and hopes.
You kind of feel something for MoH's character, whereas... playing CoD (mainly the recent ones with Modern Warfare) you never really get to know a character... you end up feeling like you're playing a blood thirsty killing machine.... that's all good and all, but it gets old really quick.
It's time for a modern war game with some emphasis on character, it's time a game like this takes on a ride through modern war but as a person, and not as something. It's time that a players feels FOR the character, and not the other way around.
This is why I (and most people) think MoH has what it takes to combat CoD in the same category, but do something a little different too. Provided they can bring this character and setting emphasis onto the campaign.

true.
The only time I felt sad was when Ghost was killed. So much emotion for a character with so little characterization (kind of like Stiglitz in Inglorious Basterds).

It sure sounds like this title is going to have another characteristically incredible soundtrack. Although my fondness for the Medal of Honor series has decreased over the years, something I'm continually drawn back to is the amazing musical scores for the games. We'll see if this game is as good as the music seems to be.

There's nothing wrong with COD...
COD4 was a great game. I played that thing to death even though I sucked. I had, and continue to have, fun with that game.
I like mw2 but it's not nearly as compelling as COD4, mostly it's not nearly as fresh as what COD4 brought to the table. There's too much focus on killstreaks, and fussing around with gameplay in order to make Scavenger, Ninja, and Cold-blooded viable perks (I never used to run out of ammo in COD4; now, it's like all the time on mw2).
Anyhow, back to the topic...
I hope the new MOH is fun, sans the nausa-inducing head-bob from the very first MOH (which is why I never got into it, back in those ps1 days).
