Call of Duty: The War Collection listed by retailers

Maybe you don't need another World War II shooter, but how about three? If recently spotted listings on GameStop and Amazon are accurate, a new Call of Duty compilation, dubbed Call of Duty: The War Collection, will be released next month.

The collection bundles together the three WWII-based games in the series available on Xbox 360: Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War -- all for $60. Given that Call of Duty 2 was never released on PS3, it seems unlikely that Sony's platform will receive this particular collection.

That's three (old) Call of Duty games for the price of one standard Xbox 360 game. Not a bad deal, especially for Modern Warfare players in need of a history lesson. According to GameStop and Amazon, The War Collection will be released this June.

I honestly can't believe some of the people on here. This is just a good way to put them all in one place, I don't see how it's milking at all. How come no one said it about the God of War collection.

Because the God of War collection was re-mastered for HD... Come on, keep up.

Oh, I forgot to mention it added trophy support to those games, as well.

I think because God of War didn't have twenty sequels.

I agree with you 100%, the God of War Collection is just as bad as this unnecessary bundle....I mean come on, every ps3 made up to this point has backwards compatibility so anyone with a ps3 could've just bought any or all of the original God of War games

My PS3 (purchased almost a year ago) does not have backwards compatibility. Which is why I bought the GoW pack.

i would totally get this if it had cod 4 instead of cod 3.....and if i had a 360.

Good collection and all, but most people are stuck on MW1 and MW2. I know there's still a good community for WAW, but I don't see much point going earlier than that. But hey, it's up to the consumer of this package.

Single player sells hello.

Single Player does sell, but for $60 is it worth it? The single player campaigns are short enough that they could all be rented for much much less.

To add you could pick up all these games used for $48 and that includes the GOTY CoD2. Beat em and return them. I wouldn't call anyone stupid for buying this package. Just making some simple observations.

I've been wanting to pickup Call of Duty 3, but wasn't put off by the $30 games on demand marketplace price. Always felt it should have been $20. Never tried Call of Duty 2 either. World at War is easily worth $60 alone, and was one of my favorite games outside of Modern Warfare 1 and 2. It would seem that each of these titles is selling for $20. Wonder if the marketplace price will ever drop for the individual titles....

COD2 was one of the first games I ever played for the 360 and it was really the first time that it felt like I was playing a "next-gen" game, especially online. I haven't revisited it so I'm not sure how great it really holds up now though. Everyone was really hard on Treyarch's COD3, but I thought it was fine. it wasn't as good as COD2 but it was still a solid war shooter. If you already have WaW, you're probably better off getting COD 2 & 3 on their own at a lower price.

Call of Duty 2 is good but 3 was, to be honest, a bit crap.

CoD2 was awesome man. 3 sucked, 4 was good, WaW was good (aside from grenade spamming AI in campaign), MW2 not so good.

Seriously. You need to cool down your jetpack and quit making every post about Halo.

Wasn't one of those pretty friggin' terrible? A Treyarch game before Treyarch got their shit together? I'm not sure which.

Call of Duty 3 and World at War was by Treyarch. Also, I'm still not convinced Treyarch is that great a developer. WaW was COD4 in a world war II skin, but still not as good.

True, but it wasn't too bad; and I understand that COD3 was really crappy. Interested to see how Treyarch's next game turns out.

CoD3 isn't remotely as bad as it's made out to be. CoD4 is certainly much better, but CoD3 is far above the likes of Blacksite, Bullet Witch, etc... Also, W@W is more then CoD4 reskinned, unless I somehow missed out on CoD4's 4-player co-op campaign?

For as much as you defend (or rather, apologize for) CoD/MW2, you really have no business discrediting Treyarch's work on World at War.

That was so half assed and unappealing thats WaW co-op isnt even worth mentioning. That literally added nothing different to make the co-op experience unique, all they did was add a second player and allowed you to revive each other.

that feature was a waste of time.

To be honest the only COD game I played before COD4 was COD2: Big Red One for the PS2. This might be a good chance for me to go back and play the other ones.

Found WaW on Half.com for $28.48 shipped or through a seller on Amazon for $31.78 with free shipping. So it's only $40 for people who don't look around, which is exactly the market this collection is targeting with a $60 price.

Come on, guys! That's like the price of four Stimulus Packages! It's not a hard decision to pick this up. Oh sure, the casuals only care about the latest and greatest, but we hardcore gamers... we play the old school games.

Not quite, but you can get COD 2 and WAW for about 40 bucks, and you could just skip the POS that 3 was.

Damn! I want Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 3 for my collection. May have to sell W@W and pick this up. CoD2/3 are $20 each for used, and I dislike used: Hopefully I can get $20 for WaW to make this more worth it. o.o

yes it really was, I didnt even make it to the 4 level before i packed it up and mailed it back to gamefly.

This wasnt just a case of the whole game being green, it was a case of the game being so green you couldnt see the enemies lol they all blended in!

Wow... I wonder if I can find CoD2 new (Again, I dont like used) for $20-ish (Amazon.ca has it for $40 O_o)

If World at War comes out with all the DLC maps, I'll probably pick this up if I have money left over.

I'd only get this if all those games have all the DLC in the disc, otherwise this is useless.

I already own all 3. You don't get any more of my money, jerks.
