You could be forgiven for not staying abreast of news related to the now year-and-a-half-old Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise. Heck, we're almost kind of relieved; you have no idea what a hassle it is to dig our "Ñ" key out of the storage shed. But scattered across the globe is a resolute fan base that's unwilling to let the game drift off to the Great Piñata Garden in the Sky. When developer Rare ran out of the Piñata Vision barcodes that injected new creatures and items into the game, the PinataIsland.info community sprung into action.
Here, community admin Jim McQuillan tells it better than us:
"Our members noticed that there were still of Piñata Vision cards that weren't available such as the Choclodocus, the big daddy of all piñatas. These members reverse engineered the barcodes on the Piñata Vision cards to discover how they worked. By comparing different species of pinatas and attempting to fill in the gaps in the barcode of the choclodocus, they eventually found success! In simple terms you can think of this like Jurassic Park where they took the dinosaur DNA and mixed it the DNA from other species of animals to fill in the gaps. It's just that our dinosaur happens to be a Choclodocus pinata instead."
Finally, the fruits of their labor, the Choclodocus Egg Pinata Vision Card, is available for your enjoyment. Just don't tell piñata Jeff Goldblum what they've wrought.

I like the Viva Pinata series (the ones where you actually have a garden) quite a bit. But I can't hang onto the game after beating it and doing all the achievements. Can't believe there are still people into that game.

Your statement has a similarity to The Sims. For some it's easy to play for a long time or many playthroughs. I guess it just depends on the person's attention and joy for the game.

I quit playing it because it was impossible to progress any further without walkthroughs. I think I got to level 45 or so in TiP.

I love the game, in fact i have probably put more hours into it than most of the current gen games that i have played. my fiancee and I pick it up every month or so and play for 10 or more hours. in fact, i think we will play tonight.
i really wish that this game had been a smash hit with children like they were hoping. at least then i would get more squeals and expansion packs. now i have to wait for Rare to make games i dont give a shit about before they go back to Viva P. (which judging by their comments could be a very long time)

Which Viva P. game is better?

Buy Trouble in Paradise. Ignore the other two. TiP obsoletes the first and the the other one isn't even part of the series (Party Animals).

I didn't get into the second one like I did the first one, but this is making me think I need to pick it up again and give it some time.

I don't think I could fit two dinosaurs in my garden. When I got the Choclodocus in my game the first thing it did was trample over all my Pinata and annoy the hell out of them.

I could just leave my 360 on VP all day to keep the awesome ambient visuals and mega soothing music.

Absolutely adore the Viva Pinata games. To those doubting how well they did, keep in mind they're Platinum Hits -- meaning they sold heaps.
Hope to see another one -- maybe Natal enabled (can you imagine petting a Horstachio??!!) -- s(w)oon!
