Pre-rendered game trailers may not do a very good job of preparing us for actual gameplay, but it's hard to beat good CG for setting the mood. Case in point: The intro trailer to Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. We've got the Prince, a mysterious woman, a massive battle, daring leaps and one of the faintest goatees in gaming history. See it all in the trailer above.
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands hits consoles on May 18 with a PC version to follow in June.

Not sure what to think of this, is this just a cash grab.. or is this intended as a serious game
I really hope this is good, I've wanted a new PoP game similar to the PS2 trilogy.

Please don't be a bad close to movie release cash in. It would be so nice to have a good recent prince of persia true to the old sands of time series.

Why wasn't this just longer and released as the PoP movie? Is it just the lack of Gyllenhaal?

I love the Sands of Time trilogy as much as the next person, but I think that they should just leave this arc alone from this point on and focus on the 2008 PoP universe that was just introduced. If they keep "exploring" the SoT story, I fear that the possibility of Ubi releasing a mediocre installment will be more likely. After all, they teased me with a fraction of a new story that was a breath of fresh air, and I would like to explore that one further. Dare I say I even liked the gameplay...

I was prepared to be disappointed seeing as how its on all three consoles and its usually (not always) but it can be a sign of crap, but Ubisoft really made this look good!

Is that Abdul Al-Fahrek Al-Zaheer Abu-Rahman, great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather of Tyson Rios fighting?

DAMMIT!!!!!
Its LITERALLY 4 games coming out on the 18 of May that I want to play.....and my Gamefly only lets me have 4 games out at once......I don't think I will be able to beat what I have and have them back in time to get all 4....
Split/Second, Alan Wake, PoP:Forgotten Sands, and Read Dead Redemption....DAMMIT TO HELL!!!!
something is going to have to go on the back burner.....

I'd say drop Alan Wake and Prince of Persia. Both look great and I cannot wait to play them but neither seem like they would be purchase worthy. Both seem like a game where you beat once and never return to again due to lack of replayability. Not because of lack of online. Just because those games seem to get kind of stale after the first or second play throughs.
I recommend renting them :)

Look forward to the day when gamplay looks like this trailer. Hopefully the next gen will give it to us.

You can put Split/Second on the back burner, the demo reminds me of ridge racer with a few more bells.

Instinct says that this is just a movie tie-in, but I'm actually quite impressed with what they've shown so far.
Still, Alan Wake comes first.

Whenever someone has ever said "it's hard to beat", they were trying to sell me something

This *IS NOT* a movie tie in game, it is an original story between the second and third PoP from the Sands of Time trilogy, and it has been in development for two years. However, the Wii version is a different take than the PC/PS3/XBox360 ports.
Go to the web site to learn more, I'm actually hopeful for this one -- which means I'll be let down. But let me enjoy the anticipation in the meantime!
