Sold, but not for me. I did not like the first game that much but my son loves it. He is always trying to build his own levels and so forth. Being able to build his characters and a wider option will make him go insane.

I actually bought the original game because I thought my gf would enjoy playing the game with me, but I ended up loving it more than she did--the 3-dimensional on the z-axis really annoyed her to the point of never wanting to play again.

My only gripes (and issues I hope they address) is that the creation tools are easier to use and more accessible to people who don't want to get slammed with a steep learning curve. Apparently Mod Nation fixed this issue in the upcoming game--and everytime I tried creating a level, it was very frustrating because I'd spend about 4-5 hours on it and have it look like a pile of crap that I only spent 5 minutes on.

Also, I haven't played lbp in awhile--whatever happened to the water update pack that was supposed to be released?

But the trailer was awesome--especially the indie-esque music. And I loved the music from the original game too.

@rickjamess04

The water update was released in December as a Pirates of the Caribbean -themed DLC. While anyone can play levels using water, you need to purchase the DLC in order to create your own water-themed levels- just like the "paintinator" gun from the MGS-themed DLC.

Ah, thanks for the clarification on the water update.

Also, someone on Kotaku just posted a link confirming mouse and keyboard support for level designing. Which is pretty awesome. Now I'm going to ask them to spoil us here, but it would be awesome if they added support for a wacom tablet! http://ps3.nowgamer.com/news/3117/lbp2-to-support-mouse-and-keyboard

The PS3 recognises a tablet as a mouse - so yeah, it's supported.

That was what happened in my house as well. The wife found the controls frustrating and stopped playing.

I am pretty impressed by this trailer and looking forward to the second game. The first was just brilliant and by the looks of it, they are raising the bar here.

HA! My ex-gf was the same, she couldn't get the whole 3d 2d dimensions either! PLus she hated when I slapped her character.

Anywho, LBP2 sold even without a commerical. But poritng over LBP is brillant, a great move not to screw over peoples hard work. However, to have this as a sold sold sold, I need a Kevin Butler commerical, come on Sony!

The song is actually by a band called Passion Pit. They're one of my favorite new bands right now. The music definitely isn't for everyone, but its kind of a synth/alt hybrid that some of you might like. Thought I'd try help if anyone was wondering.
On topic: I rented the first LBP and couldn't get that into it, but always understood the appeal. i might have to give the sequel a chance, though, because this trailer makes it look wonderful.

@Jerry: You ever heard of song licensing? I guess you believe Sony and MM stole most of the songs in the first LBP.

Plot?

uhhhh simply put....Make shit.....smh

sure there was a story....but the big draw of the game was being able to make your own levels and play what other people made

There was a loose story in the developer levels, and it looks like it might be more involved in 2, which sounds a bit like you're fighting The King from Katamari:
http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-gb/2/#story

Still, if you're pointing to the plot as a bad (or good) point of the game, you're missing the point hugely.

That trailer is full of Awesome sauce!!! While I made a few levels before(most of which sucked ass) I can see myself making MORE levels now as its easier to make games!! Most of my idea were games. I wonder a few things tho.....How it will work with Move, and if people that bout LBP:GotY Edition will be able to copy all those add-ons to the HDD to be used in LBP2.

One thing is certain this Holiday season has gotten even more costly.....and I'm not mad at all!!

I suspect the DLC will probably operate similar to the way RockBand does. The game is a platform to play the content. As long as the engine doesnt change too drastically there's no reason you should just be able to have access to anything defined as being LBP content. You just dont have the premade levels on the first disc. I suspect levels made with LPB2 wont be compatible with LBP1 though.

My guess is that all that DLC you are talking about is now part of the core engine. After all it would be a silly move to "sell" the water upgrade for the sequel, for example, when it was an upgrade for the first game. In other words, I bet that all the LBP1 levels will work with 2 because all the LBP1 DLC is already in the LBP2 disc.

Looking at the racing game, I wonder if it will be possible to make a 'full 3d' (as opposed to just 3 planes) platforming level. That would be pretty nice.

Kind of defeats the purpose and idea of what they are trying to create. You are meant to re-experience the good ol' arcade days of 2D platforming, sidescrollers and shooters. I doubt it would be as much fun full 3D, there would be too much to account for and therefore less content available :(

Seems as though they've simply chosen to add a new perspective view rather than change up the 3 tier depth. Essentially instead of changing the engine they took the currently existing camera and placed it lower on the screen then let you run on the wall to create the 2D style stages. It's actually a very cool idea.

This looks pretty sweet. I didn't like the first game much though because the level making was cumbersome and daunting. It really needed mouse-control. Not that this game will include mouse-control, but I've gotten over trying to make levels and instead just enjoy the ones other people make instead, and now it'll have more game options than just jump/grab move forward, and hopefully more interesting enemies.

I have to show this trailer to my son so I can leverage how much he will want the game. Winter is great. I should be able to get him to do just about anything so he can have this game when it comes out. I feel kind of dirty for thinking this way but I will get over it.

I actually share your opinion, well at least in regards to the first game. I loved the presentation and I bought it on day one (actually a day early as I tracked down a copy). Unfortunately, I didn't find it near as entertaining as I thought it would be. I also found the control floaty for the platformer part of the game. I can understand the draw and why there are fans of LBP, but I found out that I sadly didn't share the same sentiments.

Either way, it's a quality franchise and I'm glad to see they are bringing some new things for the sequel.
