New studios are always great. Sad to see him leave Platinum games but it's his decision. Hopefully with his help the new developer can bust out with some great titles.

Shinji Mikami later addressed allegations that his family line stemmed from a migratory band of gypsies. He assured the reporters that this was complete falsehood, before stealing their watches, selling them snake oil at premium prices and moving to the next interview.

More as it develops.

It breaks my heart to see Platinum Games being reduced to churning out “content” like Vanquish; it looks so far flung from what a Clover game is supposed to be about. Maybe the name is supposed to be some-sort of ironic, an easter egg epitaph; here lies the Vanquished spirit of creativity and ambition.

I'm confused. Mikami is working on a project for a different studio when he has his own? And Kamiya left platinum to work for Mikami even though he would be technically working for Mikami if he stayed at platinum games? can somebody clarify the info above please?

it's confusing, for sure. Mikami was a co-founder of Platinum Games. Platinum only announced 4 games, which are to be published by Sega. perhaps Mikami is leaving the company after this current deal is complete so he can start a completely new company and secure an entirely new deal. although i'm saddened that it appears that the Platinum games as we know it will be fractured. i can't imagine why they would want to abandon the awesome new IP's they've created in the past 3 years, but then again, i don't know what the "big-picture" plan is until Mikami finally announces what his big new project and studio is all about.

I enjoyed Madworld quite a bit and am still looking forward to a sequel. I hope that the studio puts more into a sequel, assuming one happens, because there was plenty of room for growth in Madworld.

Madworld and Muramasa are two of my favorite new IPs recently. Although, Muramasa isn't technically a new IP. It's a fantastic game.
