A few weeks ago, Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto tailored a poll for fans (and Twitter followers), canvassing to find out what role-playing classics from the PSOne era they'd like to see patched onto the PlayStation Store. We've been on pins and needles anticipating the results, and have been in stitches since Hashimoto announced the results earlier this morning: The next Squeenix RPG to hit the PSN (after Final Fantasy IX, mind you) will be Threads of Fate.
If your mind isn't embroidered with memories of the original game, Threads is an action-RPG with platforming elements and Secret of Mana-esque radial menus. Though it was only released to a sew-sew commercial reception, it was unique in that it featured multiple characters, each with their own interwoven story arcs. We won't go into any more detail than that, as we'd hate to post any spoolers. (And now that we've used them all up, you can rest assured that all future posts about this game will be totally pun-free. You're welcome!)

FFIX > Threads of Fate.
Decent release. Just Threads wasn't my cup of tea in the PS1 Days.
I'd like to see Xenogears Sony!

Threads of fate, that's it! I remember playing this a long time ago and have been wondering for months what it's called.

Finally Square-EA has 'got a clue'
READ v
A clue refers to information that may lead a person to a specific conclusion. "Having or getting a clue" means someone who understands something. It comes from the ancient Greek myth of the Labyrinth where the hero Theseus used a clew, or ball of twine, to solve the Minotaur's labyrinth.
yeah i'm a nerd

or even Brave Fencer.
Seriously, he must've known it was going to be Threads all along. There's no way they'd put Threads over Xenogears, Vagrant or Brave Fencer's popularity.

I definitely agree! Xenogears and Vagrant Story first. Threads was mediocre.

I completely, utterly, totally agree. I gave away my Vagrant Story discs, and accidentally destroyed my Xenogears discs. I still have Threads of Fate, and wish THAT one had been broken or given away.
Not that it was a terrible game, just didn't catch my interest like the former games did.

But if they let you rip Threads of Fate their entire business plan would unravel.

I hope they keep this up and release Valkyrie Profile for PSN. I been playing two and all these rumors going around about the third one in the making is making me want to play the first two.

The first game is a rather cruel mistress I'll warn you.
So what that I decided to keep a few treasures I found at the end of those dungeons? If Odin wants them so badly, tell him to get his lazy arse, stumble through a dungeon with his one eye, and get it himself. I gave you those legendary Coffee beans, let me keep the sword I just found! But nooooo... he sics a valkyrie on me who proceeds to invent several of her own sexual innuendos about her lance, using me and my team's soon-to-be-dead bodies as the puns...

Come on guys.... Sony dose what they can. I mean honestly games like these PSone classics get released based on how fast they can get the rights to them cleared for release again on a new platform. That and the simple fact that most of these titles need slight changes so they can be upscaled, and PS smoothed via the PS3.
Last but not least is the custom controls feature for the PSP versions. Theres way more invovled here then simple ports.

Ummm, no; there are no changes made to these games to release them on the PSN, just QA testing. "cChanges to support upscaling"? Then why can you throw any PS1 disc in the PS3 and play it upscaled?
The rights are the thing slowing us down, and the fact that, for the most part, PS1 games are pretty marginal profit streams, outside of games that lack the words: "Final", "Fantasy", "Metal", "Gear" or "Solid".

Picked this up because of a strategy section in ye olde 'Tips & Tricks' and it just looked too good. Such an underrated game as far as PS1 era Square is concerned, hopefully it means they'll start delving more into their smaller titles for both PS1 Classics and Virtual Console soon.

Never played this game before (never even heard of it actually), if it looks good I might have to pick this up.

Nice! If they give us Musashi and Vagrant Story, Square will officially be back on my good side.

Hmm. I picked this up from GameStop a few years ago for about...two dollars when they were clearing out the ps1 games.
I was pretty happy with my purchase, and did find it a little hard. Didn't get far because I got frustrated and gave up. This is motivation to revisit it.
