Nintendo's viral-esque series of Super Mario Galaxy 2 promotional videos continues with a brief look at an odd flying minigame. In this racing segment, Mario woo-hoos through a course as he holds onto the legs of a "Fluzzard." The challenge, of course, is to win the race against a bunch of birds who aren't weighted down by husky plumbers.
Perhaps this particular Fluzzard flies faster, though, boosted by the assurance that its talents are useful to Mario. There are really only two fates for animals in the Mario universe, after all. If you can't be used as a vehicle in some way (like Yoshi, who is born wearing a saddle), you are doomed to being stomped to death. See the trailer after the break.
In before the haters proclaim it looks like Mario 64.
I think they're just jealous 4 of the top 5 average-rated games of all time are available on Wii, with Mario Galaxy taking out the number 2 spot.
According to Gamerankings of course, thats the only one worth looking at, especially with the decimal places of percentages. Metacritic has died in the ass and has a whole different top 10 set to Gamerankings now. Yeah yeah sure Metacritic, 3 Tony Hawk games in the top 10 games of all time...
Well its all down to opinion really. You say those facts but yet I cant see a game on the Wii that really makes me wish I had one whereas I look at my PS3,PC and Xbox 360 and I can justify all of them. And yeah the graphics are bad, but anyone who laughs about bad graphics on the Wii at this stage is just beating a dead horse.
I find it intriguing you can justify owning a 360, Ps3 AND PC for gaming Kleptomaniac. As a Wii gamer since launch and played it nearly every day, i cant even find enough money in my budget to buy every good game on the system. Heck only just this year i got my hands on Smash Bros and Mario Galaxy. I also have a gaming PC for HD gaming but when i look at the HD consoles, i wonder why people bother having both. 99% of games are on both, so really you're buying a second HD console for its few exclusives, a fact that makes no sense when the Wii has the most exclusive A+ titles this gen.
As someone who owns a gaming PC, justifying buying a console just for it's exclusive titles is tough. Its like someone trying to convince me to buy an Xbox 360, then listing the good games on the system that A: Aren't on PC and B: Aren't FPS games (i just cant stand the chore that is dual-analog for FPS games). Suddenly the list of games is slashed taking into account those 2 conditions.
This being said, the Ps3 seems to have a better range of exclusive games that does fit into those 2 conditions, hence why i will probably get one when the price comes down, but as someone whos been playing games for 24 years, from what i can tell this gen owning a gaming PC and Wii gives far far more gaming value for money compared to owning either HD console. You find it hard to see games worth owning on Wii, where as i find it hard to even buy all the great games on Wii after i own 22 of them (nevermind GC, Wiiware and VC games, another 35 or so there). Each to their own i guess.
Ugh ok I just kind of glanced over your comment cause its late for long replies. Technically the 360 is my brothers, I started off with the PS3 then built a gaming PC around christmas. I keep the PS3 for exclusives and when multiplats come out for it sooner than PC. I think keeping a PS3 just for exclusives is reason enough because of their quality. My PC is for shooters...RTS games and when I wanna crank up the graphics aswell as playing at 60FPS plus the exclusives. The 360 has a great lineup this year starting with Alan wake. The Wii just doesn't appeal to me what can I say?
Exactly my thoughts, looks a lot like that whole sequence from TP. It was a fun ride though! This is the first time I'm aware of the Zelda universe feeding the Mario universe, usually it's the other way around.
I say that little big planet has a bigger chance to beat mario in terms of critical acclaim with move. And as for sales I have no doubt mario will win.
It announces a product and the first line out of its mouth is, "This is different than the Wii controller..."
In any case I can't wait for both titles. I just wish the 360 would get its own killer platformer. You know something more accessible and marketable than Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts.
I absolutely loved SMG. Probably the only game (other than LBP) that had me giddy like a little kid again when I started playing through it.
This trailer is only eclipsed by the video trailer of LBP2, which I'm looking more forward towards than SMG2. Regardless though, I still can't wait to play this.
I should probably finish NSMB Wii & try and 100% (and get Luigi) in SMG first though...
