I'm just wondering why they put the "making of documentary" on DVD and not Blu-Ray for the PS3 version. I probably would have gotten it had it been on BD. I'll still get it but I'll wait a few months like I did with Bioshock 2 and get the collectors edition for cheaper than the game itself costs.

I am assuming it's because of the Xbox and PC release too. Easier to just mass produce all DVDs for each version. Otherwise people would complain they are only getting a DVD copy while PS3 consumers get a BD. Either that or they didn't think HD quality was worth it for a making of.

I'd rather them include a voucher to download an HD version on PSN than getting a DVD.

Tigre, that is a great idea. To me that would be a lot better than a DVD. Could even be a marketplace voucher download.

Not to mention, BDs still cost significantly more to press than DVDs. And since this is extra content and not the main dish, they are likely trying to produce it for as cheap as possible.

That said, too bad the PS3 version is not on a BD. I'd much rather see the extra content get made in 1080p HD, than crummy 480p (that's so last gen). Not that I'd buy the PS3 version, after the mess that was the PS3 port of Fallout 3, it just ain't happening. But it still would be good for PS3 owners who do buy the special edition, to get the best kit possible.

Meanwhile, for the Xbox crowd, Zune Marketplace is doing 1080p instant streaming with like 90% of it's content. True the bit rate is not as high as blu-ray, but it's still far better quality than any other streaming HD service, and it's not really like most people would even know the difference - most people still get their HD over cable and satellite and think that watered down shit is impressive. So a voucher to download that content not only would be even cheaper than pressing a DVD, but will be one less disc to have to keep up with.

As for PC, I guess you could go either way - either a blu-ray with the content, or a voucher to download it over LIVE. No matter what platform you buy it on, we are way past the point where any publisher should be handing out SD content, no matter if it is paid for, or is bonus material. There are just far too many options out there to bring HD to the masses. And chances are in favor that, any gamer interested in paying the extra $$$$ for the special edition of any game, is going to have the necessary setup to enjoy the experience in HD. So why publishers are still shoveling SD content down our throats, is beyond me.

This is pretty awesome! :) I will probably get this collector's edition because I really like graphic novels. The making of dvd, poker chips, and deck of cards are a nice bonus as well. IMO, worth 80 bucks.

I may get this. I did not get the Fallout 3 special edition, and after having played the game, I really regret it.

However, if they really wanted to impress me with a Fallout special edition and insure a day one purchase of the special ed, they'd create an exclusive Fallout: New Vegas-themed Last.fm channel replete with about 100 tracks from the era, and maybe even a DJ, and include vouchers in the special editions that would allow the New Vegas-themed Last.fm station, to stream through the game in place of game soundtrack. If New Vegas is anything like Fallout 3, there is not going to be a lot of music on the disc, that you are expected to give at least 100 hours of your life away to playing.

I loved Fallout 3 to death. Played it literally for hundreds of hours. But those same 20 music tracks that Three Dog played on Galaxy News Radio, got old long before I got to hour 15 of the game. By hour 200 of the game, I was so tired of hearing them, I was playing the game without any sound on at all. So anything they can do to make New Vegas a better experience than Fallout 3 in this department, would be greatly appreciated.

Are we talking about the Survival edition one for $130 or the collectors edition of Fallout 3 for $80, because I believe this New Vegas one beats the collectors edition for Fallout 3. The only thing that made it worth it was the Vault Tec tin lunchbox; if it didn't come with that baby, I would have never bought it. The bobble-head was pretty cool also.

@ Zack11190:
It wasn't an alarm clock, just a standard digital clock. It is also a complete piece of crap. It drains 3 AAs in about a week and a couple of the lights on the thing have NEVER worked. The only reason I didn't throw mine right in the trash and curse out Bethesda is the fact that I opened it up and wired an actual power cord into it. Works like a charm and it's my favorite clock ever now.

I doubt it will be delayed. Fall 2010 is natural this early in the year. The Fallout 3 CE was announced before the release date of it.

Very well then. I mean, it seems likely they will get it out in the fall (using the Oblivion engine was a very safe bet), but still, it just throws me off.

That said, if we don't get a release date at E3 next month, or at least a month timeframe, then my bet stands.

Also: If it does get delayed, I won't actually mind. Means Bethesda/Zeni Media is willing to put out a quality product, unlike LucasArts...

I agree with you there. Generally delays are considered bad things, but it's mostly to polish the game into a solid title. Not releasing a half ass job of a game.

Wow! This is leagues cooler than the Starcraft 2 collectors edition and twenty dollars cheaper.... and the game itself isn't only 1/3 of what it should be!

Im in.... I love it when a collectors edition actually makes me want it.

So you think some poker chips, a deck of cards, behind-the-scenes DVD, and a graphic novel is better than a soundtrack, DVD, a USB drive designed like a dogtog with the original game and the expansion on it, special decals and avatars for the game, a special unit, an artbook, comic book, and another item?

Actually yes...

The fallout items are interesting and novel, sync with the theme of the game, have some outside-of-game lasting appeal, and add only 20 dollars to the price of the game.

The starcraft pack adds 40 dollars to the game (whose regular edition is 60 dollars instead of 50 anyway merely because they think they can add it),

The reskins are something that would be cool for the multiplayer to have anyway and were likely cut from the regular edition to wring more money out of the special...

a pet for warcraft.... yay! totally worth my time

a usb drive to go with my 4 or 5 others I own, which includes a game and expansion I already own...

The dvd/cd/artbook are nice but have always been included in Blizzard special editions that cost 20 dollars less than this one. (79.99)

I guess I am letting blizzactivision annoyance cloud my thoughts a bit but I am quite turned off by their collector edition. When I saw it I was like WOW thats overpriced (especially considering they are milking the hell out of the game by releasing it in 3 parts)... when I saw this one, I was like WOW thats a neat deal.

I shared my thoughts on the value...

Above is a more detailed version...

Thank you for your thoughts on the value...
