Unfortunately the biggest issue (not being able to choose your race) isn't going to be fixed so I downgraded my pre-order to the regular edition form limited cause the online component is now worth very little to me (I always played an Elite in H3 multiplayer). Don't get me wrong the multiplayer is fun and all but I hate playing a Spartan online and Bungie wont let me choose not to so I'll get the regular version for the single player (which is the part of Halo I always liked best).

They better have an "Elite-Games" playlist. Elites are particularly badass in Reach.

That's a pretty weak reasoning for choosing what edition you buy. Also I would be more concerned with the xbox live idiots and boosters/ cheaters as the bigger issues with the game.

I'll be getting the limited edition for what it is, not for a multiplayer skin that MS will probably just try to sell us anyways. I would like the Legendary ed., but that price is better spent on many other things.

@TJ: I originally went with the limited edition for the Elite skin but since Bungie wont let me play as an Elite (when I want) so why waste money on the limited edition (the other crap doesn't interest me). I'll go with the regular edition which contains all I really want, the single player campaign (as I said before I'm not interested in playing as a Spartan).

i'm pretty sure there will be elite-only playlists, if that satisfies you.

@maveric101: I want to kill Spartans for the covenant and Bungie isn't listening!

I guess you missed the whole "Elite Slayer", "Invasion", "Generator Defense", and "Elite versus Spartan Slayer", and full release "Custom Game" memos, didn't you?

You poor thing you.

""Flag taken ... flag dropped" " Is mostly from people repeatedly dropping and picking up flags so that they can move marginally faster. Unless they normalize flag run speed and normal run speed, it'll continue.

Piss on you flag/bomb droppers, you ruined Halo 3 CTF and Assault.

Bungie needs a fix that that both keeps the hinderance of carrying an objective and breaks the usefulness of repeatedly dropping/recovering the objective. Something along the lines of keeping the movement hinderance for sub-one second after dropping the objective. CTF is a team game for a reason, only douches solo a flag run and run straight up the middle flag dropping all the way back . . . conversely, only douche teammates don't have a warthog/mongoose at the ready or aren't on foot providing back up near you.

Still, I'd much rather play a CTF game with a bunch of random jackasses who don't know how to play as a team, than with a single prat flag dropping.

That 'piss on you' totally wasn't directed towards you personally, btw. Less you be one of them pesky dogs, eh?

The 'flag taken/flag dropped' stuff was partially why I stopped playing the beta. Plus, I don't see why all of a sudden my character is moving like he's in molasses while holding a flag.

Heh, trust me I'm a flag purist, not elitest. Once I grab that flag, I'm not dropping it til its lodged so deeply in your corpse that I can't carry it, or I die (and in one case, I pretty much killed an entire team with just the insta-kill flag jab).

Hell, the easiest fix they could include would be a "cooldown" of sorts, like after dropping the flag, you have to wait a few seconds before that particular person is able to grab it again. Doesn't punish you for carrying it so the speed decrease is there, and if you drop it on purpose, it'll be to defend yourself, in which case the cooldown won't matter.

And yeah, I've been playing Invasion mainly, and thank god it doesn't quite seem to apply to the matches I've been in at least.

flag tossing may be annoying because of the voice, but it is a major advantage, especially when combined with any sort of drop and sprint ability

I'll be really disappointed if it is removed, but repetitive voice needs to go.

hate all you want, the few seconds saved over the course of the flag run can be the difference between a win and a loss. A veteran flag dropper will be able to utilize any sort of lift or man cannon much more effectively; like taking the flag from the bottom floor on sword base, to within a few feet of the capture point in about 3-4 seconds. The distances in that map are specific to flag tossing, Bungie had to recognize that when they made it.

ok, I'll admit it, I totally steal flags in stockpile :)

quick question, what's the point of capturing the territories in invasion slayer?

Capturing territories will result in a weapon/vehicle drop about 15 seconds after you capture said territory.
Fair warning: opponents can and will try to steal that position after you've captured the territory in order to grab the power weapons.

I love the concept-- getting those weapons/vehicles definitely adds another dimension to the game rather than grabbing weapons from a particular default spawn location.

Just so you all know there are a lot worse problems with the beta than just
teammate flag stealing and reticules. It is a beta. So your minor gripes might be fixed for the real thing. But personally faulty sword lunge kills, odd invasion slayer game play glitches, armor lock glitches, and spawning without armor abilities are far more in need of fixing than these other complaints. Player actions are what they are, and you cannot control how gamers act.

I hate that in Invasion my party is broken up between teams. I want to play with my friends. And after playing every Halo game to date, I don't think I'll be buying Reach. I'm not a fan of the new gimmicks. It's time to move on.
