Actually Cypher, there is a Megaman series that would work pretty good for an MMO, and that series is...

Megaman Legends! Hallelujah we are getting our sequel!!

crap, they have that network bull too... it could be an mmo based of that...! Nooooooo!

As long as it's not as bad as their cover arts. The cover art of Mega Mans vs the playable ones in ANY game have about a 30 year age difference.

the cover art of these old games were awesome! What do you mean by "the playable ones?"

On the covers he's portrayed as this like 40 year old guy with a gun, sometimes a blaster. Yet from 8-bit to now, including the cartoon, the one you control/play is portrayed as a 13 year old.

He only looks like a "40 year old guy with a gun" on the MM1 box. He looks slightly younger on the MM2 box, but those are the only games that used the "classic" boxart.

battle network makes sense to me.... I mean they do go online in the actually games technically lol soooo perhaps you make your own navis (or choose from preset ones maybe) wander the net and fight other people while doing quests.

THIS LOOKS LIKE A LONG-TERM CASH without taking game quality into account. We all know earnings (e.g.,CAPCOM CO., LTD.) have been "slugish", but come on...Mega Man an MMO..really? =(

For one, Mega Man's story would be a bane on humanity as an MMO, as it will resemble the type of story that we find in many videogame movie adaptations (e.g., Double Dragon live action film), where the original story is only there for name and context, but the soul is put in the garbage along with quality and experience.

Dear Capcom,

For financial reasons I understand why Mega Man the MMO is "a good idea", but please do not do it...I promise I will buy every side scrolling Megman (and maybe even another 3D Megman again), just please use another IP for this MMO scheme.

Sincerely,

Concerned Mega Man Fan

no....

MMO made me think of MMX, and MMX is Mega Man X, but MMX is also the Roman Numerals for 2010.

I'd be surprised if this isn't as 'good' as Battle Chip Challenge and doesn't work in similar ways.
I hope it has nothing to do with the 'for kids' series.

I can see Megaman working with multiplayer, but only with co-op PvE. I can't think of any way they could make an enjoyable PvP game. No, I don't like PvP, people don't play for fun.
The only option I see would be a FPS and the only way it'd be cool is if you played with robot masters, touched disabled ones to get their weapons, and also had the MMZ4 system of being able to rip out weapons from NPC enemies to use as your own.

While having it based in the regular universe would be cool, I think it'll be set in the Battle Network universe.

At this point I could go for a co-op Megaman Legends. I dunno if I can go another 10 years without a sequel to the game that proved MM can go 3D and do it well.

Why not let MML3 be a co-op game where players can go on digs together and have customizable Megamen vs the reavers (it would still have to have a strong narrative).

That actually sounds like it would work. Digs being like Dungeons in other MMOs, boss battles, getting epic lewtz, etc.

It looks like you guys haven't got the memo yet. And you guys also call yourselves fans... *ducks under buster shots*

Anyways, assuming this picture is real, this is going to use the Rockman X universe.

http://www.themmnetwork.com/2010/05/11/rumor-is-this-mega-man-online/

Would have preferred EXE instead, but it's still interesting to see how they try to pull this off. Pretty ironic that X might be getting one before the series that focuses on the freaking internet.

I hope it's in the X or Zero timeline.
Just set it in the Maverick Wars or Elf Wars so we learn about what exactly happened there. Then give it fast paced gameplay with dashing and wall jumps. Brilliant.

But what is it that makes me think we're getting an MMO in that stupid card game RPG spinoff setting? I smell micro payments for "booster decks" and stuff like that...

Honestly, I think this'll be some sort of Facebook app with some mobile phone integration.

We know Capcom is jumping on board the Facebook bandwagon (EA is too). So, what better way to promote Mega Man than offering a free-to-play Mega Man "MMO" on Facebook. But I don't think it'll be an MMO in the World of Warcraft sense, it'll be more "Mafia Wars"-esque. Build up your own "Mega Man" and fight different baddies and level up. Join up with friends and battle other groups. I'm sure there will be some sort of pay element added too, but I think the main goal is to promote Mega Man by using one of the best forms of advertising - Facebook.

Don't be surprised if you suddenly get a gift request for an Energy Tank sometime in the next 6 months.
