For those of you who like to play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in good company (FIRED - Ed.), EA just announced a new co-op mode for four players. Onslaught Mode, available "soon" on PS3 and Xbox 360, remixes the Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes, and Nelson Bay maps for use in co-op with new vehicle placements and different times of day.
Players are asked to complete specific objectives in each map, with enemy AI attempting to prevent those goals. For example, the announcement specifies that "Vehicle warfare comes to the forefront in Atacama Desert while Nelson Bay focuses squarely on infantry assault."
We're following up with EA about the price of this DLC, as well as the prospect of its release on PC.
No, we haven’t signed away rights to console on this. The problem we have on PC is that all our servers are dedicated with providers. Changing a server from Conquest 32 players to Onslaught 4 players cuts out 28 player slots from the total ammount available. This could have a dramatic affect on the PC online environment if enough servers changed to Onslaught.
We aren’t ruling out Onslaught on PC but at this time we are researching how to bring it to PC without affecting players who don’t have Onslaught or their own server to run it on.
Sounds cool, looking forward to checking it out as I have the PS3 version.. But come on, they should be converting maps like Panama Canal for Rush mode not this player vs. AI crap. All I wanna do is play shooters online not against lame AI.
I really hope this is free or for VIP members because I was not able to get this game new at all. There was just no way for me to get it new. So I paid $55 for the game used, $15 for the "VIP" download, and I'm saving up for Red Dead Redemption, ModNation Racers and Peace Walker's Collector's Edition. I don't got no more money but me and my squad could have a barrel of fun with this mode. :(
No one had it in. I could have taken the time to drive all over the city to get the game, but I called most Wal-Marts, Best Buy's and other places that I can't think of at the moment that were within driving distance. Some places said they didn't get their shipment(Only like two places though) and other places said they were sold out/only had it for the 360.
I was on really good terms with the GM of a Gamestop and he said that if I would have told him sooner, he'd held me a copy until I was able to pick it up, but all he had left was a used copy.
This happened to me ONE time before, and that was with Grand Theft Auto IV. It was sold out EVERYWHERE and the only way I got it was because an out-of-town family member found it at a local(And now shut-down) Gamecity 360.
yea I think I would have just ordered onlinve via Amazon.com and waited a few days.....that VIP code isn't even going to give you access to the MoH extras because you bought the code and didnt get the game new
According to EA's forums, the PC version is problematic due to the way servers are handled. Since the servers are hosted by providers and generally paid for by the community, you'd in effect be giving up paid server slots to go from a 32 player server to a 4 player Onslaught server.
Jeez, What else do they have locked away on my BC2 disk? How come no-one else sees the bullshit in slowly releasing on-disk content we already own over time?
I'm not 100% sure it is but every other "DLC" released has been on-disk content (Kit-upgrades, Map packs). What makes you think this one game mode will be any different?
sure all the maps from what I can tell have been on the disc...but what is there to complain about unless you were crazy and bought a used game then a VIP code?
a new Game type could be already on the disc sure....but if that were the case wouldn't there already been server for it setup and they would have to go thru this stuff they are with the PC part of it
i don't see how they lied to you at all. it was a smart way to get everyone to screw gamestop. i mean i had to physically force a friend to take back a used copy and buy it new.
Well anyway when this comes out and I see the words 800mps and 800kb on the same page then I hope I won't be hearing people lube themselves up so readily the next time.
I'd buy Battlefield BC2 if it was a free VIP download. I would like to snag it but not sure if I should wait for it to drop big, pay for the VIP and get all the freebies or just buy new with the VIP. I really dislike this BS they are doing with VIPs, Cerberus Networks, etc... making people buy new to get the free stuff is crap.
I appreciate the support DICE and EA have shown this game so far. I appreciate it very much.
But can we PLEASE get some NEW MAPS. Not the same maps with new gameplay modes enabled but some actual never-before-played maps? The included maps are fantastic--Atacama Desert is one of my favorite BF maps ever--but they're getting a bit tired.
Please, EA/DICE...give us a couple new maps that work in all game modes. Please?
Ive got a better idea. How about they fix the game first?! With the massive amount of bugs, imbalanced Carl Gustav noob tube, terrible graphic performance, and lack of maps, a "co-op" mode is the LAST thing they should be worrying about
The Carl Gustav was nerfed in the last patch, which I think went live yesterday. I'm not entirely sure though, as Reach is all I've played lately. Though if you want to complain about noob explosive weapons, I'm pretty sure the new Halo grenade is the reigning king.
yeah the patch went live yesterday. both the gustav and the 40mm grenade launcher had their blast radius shortened to make them more of a secondary weapon.
