Good news for UK PS3 owners. Blinkbox, a provider of online streaming movies and TV shows, has created a new PS3-friendly version of its website. Navigating to blinkbox.com in the PS3 internet browser will launch a specially formatted site, reminiscent of PS3-optimized versions of YouTube and BBC iPlayer. Based on a few videos we tested, we'd say the site is rather easy to navigate with the DualShock controller, and the video playback runs smoothly.
Programming available for non-UK residents is rather limited with James Earl Jones' Blood Tide as one of the few free options available for US residents. UK residents, however, can enjoy free TV series and movies, in addition to paid rentals, starting at £0.39 for a TV show and £0.99 for a movie.
It's an interesting alternative to Sony's own PlayStation Store video content, especially for those that want to instantly watch video, instead of waiting on lengthy downloads through PSN.

Was actually happy to hear this news, then I read about it being similar to the special Youtube browser for the PS3. Which sucks.

I have a feeling these services are not coming to the US because of all the troublesome red tape, regulations and legislation. I think the lack of these services is "Mission Accomplished" for Hollywood and all the television network cronies.
Thankfully, we have Netflix and that service keeps getting better and better. Sure there is still room for tremendous improvements on available content but they have just recently added a ton of TV series for instant streaming including ALL of the seasons of King of The Hill (even the ones never released on DVD). Plus, Netflix is now available across the board on consoles.

Hulu is closely affiliated with what comapany? General Electric? Oh. And GE is closely related to which software company? Microsoft? Oh.
Anyway, all I ask for is a content site that ignore where my IP address is coming from, or a capable proxy service that can handle video.

"reminiscent of PS3-optimized versions of YouTube". You gotta be kidding right? The last update or changes to the youtube "ps3 friendly site" have actually made its worse, when you go to what a video, you have a good chance of ending up with the video below on the list. And if you use the normal version you'll end up with "Get flash" text instead of a video. You can't win!
IHMO, sony should etheir have a fully functional web browser or just dont have one, don't give me one that has a chance of freezing the damn system when going on websites like the comments part on joysitq!
Well that was my rant, good news about the streaming though! =D

If they do release something like this in the US, I'd hope that they fix the Web Browser freezing issue first. Mine freezes quite a bit. Does anyone else have this problem?

I was using this last night because of the discount code for the first few thousand people to sign up. BLINK10 or something like that. Streamed some robotech movie for free. It had ads, but the quality was ok. The interface wasn't so terrible, although it got the judders a couple of times switching between fullscreen and back.
