It's more of a collectible thing than a practical device, I'm guessing.

Price for aesthetics. Can get a 16GB nano for that price, or almost an 8GB nano video.

No I am speaking of the 16GB non-video nano, or the 8GB nano that does video now.

You might also be paying a tiny bit for the whole waterproof aspect. It's probably just water resistant, but if it's actually waterproof, that'd be badass.

Tend to agree here. I think waterproof means waterproof in this case, but there is a premium to be paid for this (per independent searches for waterproof MP3 on Amazon and Buy).

The "waterproofing" is specifically to entice people to buy them for gym or workouts. So your sweat doesn't damage the unit.

Unfortunately, with past experiences with similar models, they are indeed not sweat-proof and die rather easily because of it. Save your pennies.

Just trying to give some advice to people who might be looking to use this thing as an MP3 player. You know, people who want their money's worth for products and aren't fat, lazy, unhealthy gamers who overcompensate for their physical appearance by trying own people via comments on the internet.

They keep announcing these mgs related things and I keep adding them to my 'to buy' list. This one is a bit expensive though, but if it is indeed water proof I might consider it

NOT WATERPROOF, just resistant. I'd buy it in a second if it was actually waterproof.

Waitaminute...Waterproof? Handsfree? Camouflaged?! Sounds like we're getting a codec system!

Anywho- so, this was up on the US Sony Style website yesterday, but now they are "no longer available for purchase". Not sure what's going on.
