Let's hope this article is permanent :D

But yeah, if more than just Portal and Torchlight are available then I'll be getting my TF2 on.

I retract my statements from yesterday. 2 game launch is a slap in the face. 57 games? A little better. Still no Team Fortress 2.

Alas, Torchlight is still the only game here for me. I have World of Goo, Portal, Peggle, both Indiana Jones games, The Dig, and Braid in other capacities.

Still no Team Fortress 2, though.

Hmm... maybe I'll pick up Machinarium eventually, since it doesn't look like it's coming to 360.

But Torchlight 50% off! Yes!

But still no Team Fortress 2...

Damn! Nobody has any excuse whatsoever anymore to not own Portal.

I'm looking at Torchlight and World of Goo myself, maybe Machinarium.

So Valve now that you've rewritten the entire source engine in openGL how about sticking it on the PS3? You know....the console that uses openGL and I'm pretty sure you'll sell more games there than on OSX!

That's just a pretty ignorant thing to say. It would be cool to see it on PS3 but you have no clue how many mac owners are out here.

No I'm not kicking! Sure there are people on Mac who game. But I'm pretty sure that there's alot more gamers on PS3, its kind of the reason most of them bought it! I don't have a problem with source being on OSX, but not porting it to PS3 is a slap in the face to PS3 owners.

Orange Box was already released on the PS3. What are you asking for, exactly? Torchlight, maybe? Talk to Runic. Maybe you want Steam on the PS3? You think that's a simple port, huh? Getting openGL implemented is probably child's play compared the politics that would be involved establishing a competitor to PSN right on the PS3.

Scott, he says right in his post what he's asking for: the source engine. Of course, since the Orange Box is already out I guess he's asking for... L4D2? I guess?

Steam on the Mac only works with Intel based Macs; something that isn't listed anywhere including the Steam knowledge base until after you try to run the client.

When they release an x86 based PS3 then maybe Valve will port the Steam client over to it. In other words, it's not going to happen.

There are only 6 officially confirmed titles (Torchlight, Portal, and 4 LucasArts adventures) but I sure hope that list of 50 games is good. Even though half of them were casual stuff that gamers won't care much about, their presence is important on OSX, particularly.

Anyways, I just really hope that Team Fortress 2 really does launch today so that I can finally frag my snobby Mac friends. amiright?

I don't think Valve has made it 'official' yet. You can download the disk image from the link in the article though, but it's still runs as it did during the closed beta.

I take that back, seems to have all been updated in the last 10 minutes or so. You can get the dmg from the steam store main page now (I assume it automatically choses which file based on your OS).

I see that City of Heroes is up in Steam for Mac. I don't play the game, but seeing as it's a Cider port . . . I'm disappointed that it's allowed on Steam. I was hoping Steam for Mac would do away with Cider.

I guess Braid is Cider too.

This has been dubbed "The Steam Effect". Buying something and then having it go on sale the next day or soon after you purchased it.

LOL From the page:
Portal used to cost money. Until May 24th, it's free. End of story.
Well, technically speaking, there are some strings attached. Fortunately, they're entirely decorative. We just like the way they look, swaying in the gentle breeze created by a million people simultanously fainting from shock at the news that Portal is free. Now you have no reason not to try Portal.
"I have a reason," some of you are probably typing into an angry email. "You see, sir, I own a Mac."
Well guess what: For the first time ever, Portal is also available for the Mac.
"Capitol news! But the excellent puzzle adventure Portal won over 40 Game of the Year awards; Surely it must cost at least five or six hundred dollars."
You'd think that, especially since it actually won over 70 Game of the Year Awards. But, like we keep saying, Portal is free. Free on the Mac. Free on the PC. But only until May 24th. So you only have a few days to decide if your free copy of Portal is worth the price we're currently charging - which is you ever-so-slightly moving your index finger just barely enough to click the big red "download" button right there to the left.
