Oh God, and you hold the 360 sales in such high regard over the PS3?

That's nothing compared to the spanking both of those systems are getting from Nintendo.

I think it's because ppl are poorer now. Those numbers are horrible. Whoever said entertainment survives through a depression was lying.

Way to go, SCC! This new Splinter Cell is one of my top 5 favorite games of this generation to date. Awesome Single player and fun multiplayer tops of the great overall polished package. Hats off, Ubisoft!

Well they could have sold more copies of Conviction had it been on PS3...why was this one Xbox exclusive when all of the others were multi-platform?

I bucked the trend. Finally got a PS3! But no games yet, since it's mainly gonna be my Blu-Ray player. So I didn't help those software numbers. :o(

"Wii: 277K (red down arrow) 281K (-50%)"

This is a typo, I'm assuming. Or maybe even when sales are down, sales are actually up for the Nintendo Wii. It sells THAT much.

The strangest thing about this month's NPD for me is how does JUST DANCE stay in the charts!?

Also, PS2 does pretty much the same numbers as PSP...so does that mean PSP will be delisted also?

126,000 according to the main link. Probably just outside the top 10.

It's NORMAL for sales to decrease in April from the prior month March sales.

Year over year the 360 actually sold a few thousand more units. Roughly 5% increase.

The PS3 had a 50% increase in sales year over year or roughly 60,000 units.

The PSP decreased 50% to ~60,000 units.

The DS dropped 50% or ~500,000 units from the year ago April.

The Wii sold 63,000 fewer units than a year ago. A nearly 20% decrease.

btw, I think the DS sales dropoff was spurred by the 3DS announcement.

Serves the industry right. Maybe they'll learn something from this and actually STICK TO RELEASE dates. Or at least pick them correctly so they can fill the gap ahead of time.

April was a bad month for releases because of all the last minute pushbacks, I can think of a number just off the top of my head:
Read Dead Redemption, Mafia 2, Crackdown 2, I Am Alive, new Ghost Recon. All slated for around April and pushed back. It gets REALLY old.

I thought the new direction of Spliter Cell was going to be good, but after playing it, it gets boring fast. Less skill, more run and gun. No surprise it sold less than hoped.

LOL @ Super Street Fighter 4 - serves Capcom right for selling repackaged DLC for a premium. I'll wait til it's more appropriately priced (read = $20) before I purchase it. They should have offered a trade up program for existing Street Fighter 4 fans instead of just pissing us off.
