In what might be the briefest press release we've ever received from a major publisher announcing a new chunk of DLC for an über-successful game, Activision revealed that another set of five multiplayer maps for Modern Warfare 2 will drop on Xbox Live on June 3. We know two things about said maps so far: They're coming in a set called the "Resurgence Pack," and their release will be heralded by two double XP weekends on May 28 and June 4.
Now, that's what we know. What we assume is that the pack will feature a mix of new maps and renovated versions of Call of Duty 4 maps -- perhaps a bit more of the latter, given the title of the bundle. What we also assume is that the "Resurgence Pack" will carry the $15 price tag of the "Stimulus Package" (it worked well enough before). We'll contact people in the know to see if we can squeeze out any firmer details.

This is getting absolutely ridiculous. I find it unfair that I am paying $60 a year for xbox live, and get repaid like this.
This game (like WAW) will be overrun by DLC, and anyone who doesn't purchase the maps, will simply become so frustrated that they need to sell the game.
It's no fun trying to play the game when you need to drop out of every second lobby you join because you don't have the map.

$40, and its not even on sale. Id be pissed if I was paying 50% more for something than everyone else too though.

How many assholes are going to buy this overpriced crap again? I know I won't. I didn't fall for it the first time.

I will be buying this, and I'm not an asshole. Assholes think other people should produce things and then give away at no cost the product of their labor. You, for instance, are an asshole. Why do you think other people should work for free? And in case you are unaware, $15 is not a lot of money. The Federal Reserve printed $1,550,000,000,000 out of thin air last year.

Same here. Didn't bite last time and not biting this time either, especially if most of the maps in the pack are rehashes. If I wanted to keep playing CoD4, I wouldn't have sold it in the first place, duh. I know a lot of my friends will not buy the second pack so I'm interested in seeing what the general population will do...

Oh god, here comes all the haters. Downvote anyone who says they will buy it e_e
Price is relative to the person, not the content. Someone said that they could get a whole game on PSN for $15. Well, I have bought games off of PSN for $5, $10, $15 and $20. And it turns out prices have NOTHING to do with the amount of time and fun I get out of said purchase. Imagine that!
Let's see... I couldn't even bring myself to finish Matt Hazard: BBB, I played the sh!t out of Flower, I beat ratchet Clank Booty once and never played it again, I played Critter Crunch til I platinumed it, Battlefield 1943 was fun for a few days until I just couldn't play on the ONE MAP (although large) any longer, The Last Guy was boring The Next Day, Absolutely LOVE Braid and play it to this day, I played Pain all of 1 hour before I swore it off... I could go on and on.
Point is I have played COD a total of 20 hours since the new maps launched. And had a blast the whole time. If I add up all the time I spent with every game above combined minus maybe Braid, I might not even have hit the 20 hour mark.
I also just saw Iron Man 2 with my girlfriend. The whole night cost about $45. For about 3 hours. You can put a price on everything, but that $45 was well spent, imo.
And before someone chimes in with 'but they are setting an industry standard and now everyone is gonna charge $15 for EVERYTHING WHAAAA', bull. The market will sustain what prices stay and go. For the last time, CoD is a different entity than most any other game out there. When the next person comes along trying to sell something at $15, they will find out how bad they were mistaken. Or even scarier, people might actually buy it too. Oh no! Imagine that, people buying stuff based on worth to *them*!
The whole video game industry makes me sick these days. All a bunch of crying babies from every side. The fans cry and cry and cry over prices and other similar things when in fact you are getting more bang for your buck than ever before. $45 (look around, you will find this price)-$60 for a brand new game is NOTHING for what you are getting now compared to what we used to get in the NES-PS1 days. And on the other side you have developers thinking they deserve a share of the used market sales. The only industry in the world who is strongly going after the aftermarket. Hell not even the seemingly more greedy RIAA or MPAA are pulling said planned tactics.
A bunch of entitled b!tches, the whole entire lot.

The player base is hardly fragmented as is. Only the map pack hoppers require the maps, which few people play in because most people only like one game mode.

No, I agree its a bit fragmented. Ive been playing since release and havent got the maps. The amount of lower lvl guys/girls with green chevrons that I get matched with has increased democratically and sometimes the games get a bit ridiculous. Im assuming all the people who have a clue whats going on are playing the new map modes or have moved on to halo reach beta.

I am going to be the one optimistic voice in this multitude of negativity
I predict that it wont be sold at $15 because Activision saw all the negative feedback and thought to itself "This wont be able to last, it was a nice test but I think we should go back to more reasonable pricing"

The feedback they'll most likely look at is the sales numbers. Of course, if they dropped the pack down to $10, small kudos to them.

Ofcourse it wont happen but there is not much harm in being optimistic is there and plus if I am right I get to say I called it, I told you so and be a douche and your not allowed to complain
All I am seeing nowadays are the companies doing stuff to get them more money and not really help the consumer; Increasing game prices, Increasing Game dlc prices, project $10 and the EA online thing so far I have been un-affected but when it becomes the norm I will cry

Charging for PC map packs has not only prevented me from getting the first map pack, but to stop playing the game entirely. Activision just wants money. What happened to the days of supporting the customers that have already made you millions in revenue from game sales alone...
I will also not buy any COD games again.

Cmon dude, I thought everyone knew the whole reason no mod tools would be released is so IW could shove DLC down PC players throats..

When you make 10 bazillion(9.8 bazillion to be exact) dollars on a game, is it really then neccessary to reward your loyal fanbase by requiring them to pay more money for what you could release as just DLC and still have made 10 bazillion dollars?

it is DLC...that you have to pay for. Video games are a business and Activision would be stupid to not make any money off of this especially since people spent hours working on it. I feel this is overpriced, but the second they get complacent with the amount of money they make is the second their business fails.

That sounds like something spoken from someone who doesn't run their own business. It actually almost sounds good on the surface. The point of business is to make money! Wrong...Any entrepreneur whos goal is to make as much money as possible will most likely fail. I run my own business, and one of the most important things about starting any business is you must have a bigger goal in mind. There must be a service, a need of people you WANT to meet. The money MUST be secondary. Activisions goal first and foremost should be to produce great games with good value that people enjoy. Their first goal should be to meet the needs of their clients, take joy in that, and seek to serve them. Second is the money. Activision did not make a measly 100 million on this game. Look at Infinity Ward, and that should give you an idea of what people who work for them think of them.
